Hi All,
I can't send any reports. I keep getting the following message
'Could not connect to SMTP server to send auto-report'
I am running Norton Internet Security 2007. I have turned off my firewalls (at least I think I did) and still no luck.
What should I try next? Do you think I am missing something? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Paul

Tried with no luck. I'm running Win XP with all service packs and I use Outlook as my e-mail client. Any other suggestions?

Could it have something to do with my US Robotics Broadband router?

Your router should not affect the sending. I guess you have tried sending to different emails addresses.
Did you get Mikes earlier log report?
-
Only if it has a hardware firewall and it is blocking the ports used by RB ? But you can test this by turning the Hardware Firewall off or moving your PC onto the DMZ part of the router.
If all that is &£$&*$ post your model number.

That is true, however most home firewall routers don't have too much issue sending things out its more receiving.

Yes I did get Mike's log report. I will try sending my report to another address. Until now I have only tried to send to myself.

My PC is connected via a Broadband router (Netgear Range Max 240) I use Virgin+ PC Guard and as I said earlier, have had no problems with emails. However, I did have a problem initially trying to set up reports from SBSpopulate to Mode_S group ay Yahoo due to the IP address or something. Don't know if their is a clue there?

No luck using a different e-mail address.

That could be a clue for sure. I have never been able to send log reports to a group using Acarsd. As well, I have never been successful in setting up a server using a no.ip address for Acarsd also.

I am with Vianet and as far as I know I do not use an ISP proxy. Never had to worry about that whenever I set up an internet connection or e-mail account. My knowledge is limited in this area.

No. My Norton Internet Security 2007 has spyware detection but I've turned it off and still no luck.

Maybe this will help...
U.S. Robotics Broadband Router USR800A

okay long shot but worth a try.....
Visit this page http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/USRobotics/USR8000A/default.htm
then follow the steps to log into your router, once in your looking for the setup then advanced settings tab option then in there you should be able to turn off (disable) the router firewall.
This should at least rule out the router as any possible problem.

other thing to double check is norton is turned off and not just removed the norton icon from bottom right of screen. see here http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/docid/2003071515220236

another thing to try.... :)
Rather than test using the reporter, test using the Alert and set it to Show Notification and send email. If the email fails in the alert log it will say something... hope!!
So when you see the Notification pop-up then check the alert log and check mail.

Thanks to all,
Your thoughts and suggestions were most welcomed but I'm still having no luck.
I will give this problem a rest for awhile.
