Title: ACARS worth the add-on?
Post by: oceans777 on October 12, 2008, 07:45:04 PM
Anyone using ACARS I'd be interested in knowing how much you actually use it and how beneficial you find it to your RB monitoring?

The subscription price is good for the convenience of having ACARS display within the RB interface but I already have separate, excellent ACARS decoding through my WiNRADIO G305 software and I find I rarely monitor it since most of it is coded or repetitive requests for weather, landing info.

I get very good SELCAL on HF here from the Pacific routes but unless it shows positions I don't think just having the aircraft info would interest me.

Opinions appreciated!

Best way is to start the 7 day trial version on our site and see for your self :)

Ha, you may be right :-} Is there a time restriction on ACARS when used with RB?

I find ACARS to be of most use in the Far East, particularly in China, when trying to tie up Hex codes. The cross-reference using flight numbers allows me to tie up about 10 new aircraft a day when I am there on business.
