Title: New User Near Manchester Airport
Post by: markgg on September 22, 2008, 03:19:04 PM
Hi All

After weeks of research on both forums, and internet, I have decided to go for the Airnav Rb. I think I knew from the start that this was the one but wanted to be 100%. I have just this minute ordered it from a local dealer.

Iam located just 6 miles northeast of Manchester Airport (UK) right under the flight path for landings on 24r. I should get some decent action. I have dug out my old AOR 1000 scanner ( Been in loft since I moved ) which I can listen to all ground, tower, approach and ATC frequencies from Manchester.

What an excellent forum this is, the friendliness and the support. I cant think of any questions just yet as most topics have been covered here. Iam sure I will have a few once I have set everything up.

Look forward to speaking to you soon.

Mark

Hi Mark and welcome - glad you made the right choice!

Looking forward to seeing your returns on the network. I'm about 25 miles northwest of you!

Any questions - just ask!

Welcome Mark!

I loose the Manchester traffic at about 4000ft, so I'll look forward to seeing a bit lower.  I've taken my RB to the Viewing Park at EGCC a couple of times - great fun!

Well, I've just watched SHT3V taxi and takeoff at Manchester - note the white "trail" dots on the taxiway!  It's Network data, hence the 60 second spaced trail.  If this is your data Mark, it looks like you are doing the business :-)

Welcome Mark

Like you I am New on here too.  I have just ordered my radarbox today as well, so two newbies together.  I am in a place called Dereham 15mls west of Norwich.  I have owned a SBS-1 for the last year and think you have made the right choice too, when I have got my radarbox setup i will be selling my sbs. As you it seems very friendly on here - a lot better than the other side.  I am flying up to Manchester Airport on the 14th Oct, to do a bit of spotting at the Viewing Park, first time I have been so looking forward to it.

Anyway welcome mate

Andy
