Title: D-ATIS
Post by: Storm on August 22, 2008, 03:17:06 PM
Is there any way for the RB to pick up D-ATIS messages?

Correct me if I am wrong, but these digital broadcasts messages are on different VHF and HF frequencies. This data is though on some ACARS messages from airports.

The messages are not on 1090mhz hence RB is deaf to them :)

D-ATIS is just the normal voice ATIS transmitted on a VHF or UHF radio frequency by a digital transmitter.  You need a radio for this, not a Mode S receiver :-)

Besides, you can get all the weather information using RadarBox anyway.

Edit: I see that there is a digitally received version of this too - however, I still don't see it as a task for RadarBox.

Ahh. Indeed its on the aeronautical frequency band. My bad.
