Just a week after purchasing a ANRB i thought id try a new antenna so i bought a Radar-Rama 1090 antenna and i have to say the results are fantastic my aircraft count has gone from 45 to 190. A fab little antenna i also invested in some decent cable aswell Westflex W103 , 15metres of it which was pretty pricey but worth it.

Thanks for the feedback. I was looking at this antenna a while back.
Have you got it mounted outside.?

Yeah steve its mounted outside on a 10ft pole the pole is attached to 16inch T & K brackets which are mounted just under the guttering on the end of my house which takes the aerial to about chimney height which i have no idea how high maybe 25ft + ???. I live quite near to RAF Benson and i can easily see traffic over the northern french coast and a fair bit beyond and as far north as manchester so im well happy with the results.

Hi CHILL51, I also have the Radar-Rama 1090 antenna and am going to setup like you.One question : how to connect that w103 cable to the (very small) SMA plug? I tried it with RG58 cable but was disapointed as not much different to antenna supplied,so am going to upgrade feed cable to W103.
Thanks

I am not familiar with the plugs as I am only in the infancy or researching a outdoor antenna, but there are some patch leads listed here. Maybe these would be suitable?

Hi Mike, use N-type plugs on W103, contact Jim at SSE, and ask for N-type female to SME patch lead to go with the plugs - a lot will recommend 15cms (6"), but my personal choice is for 45cms (18") less strain on the RB SMA socket.

Another possible source of patch leads.

Although I haven't used this supplier myself.
