Title: New Member requesting upper airway frequencies.
Post by: Smf_333 on September 15, 2009, 09:05:42 PM
Hi All,

I'm a new member (well since late July) here in Sheffiled UK, and I was wondering if anyone could help me with radio frequencies. Does anyone know any freq. for the main airspace running s-e to n-w between Sheffield & Manchester above FL240?
I am pretty sure it used to be London on 131.05 (about 5 years ago!) but I've listened to this frequency since recieving my radarbox and all is silent.

A flight that I'm now often tracking is Fedex 001 out of Stansted in the evening and it's be nice to be able to listen to the flight as he often passes right overhead.

Any helps appreciated. Smf.

I'd recommend these sites to help you:

Proma requires free registration, but then you can search really easily.  Search for London Control

http://www.proma.org.uk/

Also, the National air Traffic Services Aeronautical Information Publication will provide you with loads of information, including frequencies.

http://www.nats-uk.ead-it.com/public/index.php.html

and this in particular:

I suggest that you put all the en-route frequencies in your scanner, then watch for the aircraft on RadarBox.  Note that the frequencies do vary for a given area, depending on traffic loading and time of day.

Go to www.airscene.co.uk
Scroll down to 'airband' and click on that.
All the frquencies and much more besides are there. Enter as many as you can into your scanner and see what you pick up in your area.
For all things HF see the thread in the 'aviation' section of the forum.

Cheers,

Ian

have a look at:-
http://jethros.eu/scanner/atc_airways.htm
This gives easy to follow details of Airways Freqs rather than Airports.
Freq used more often than not for sector mentioned is 132.860 which replaced 131.05 quite a while back.
