Hi guys,

Here's a good one just coming up over the Scottish Borders. A far travelled Cessna 172 transmitting Mode S code AAC981. It has a flight number of AAL137 and is going from Heathrow to Los Angeles. The mode S code is also on the GAS website giving this as N7942B a Cessna 172. A truly remarkable aircraft !

It's a miscode.  The aircraft is really a B772

To quote - "Using incorrect ICAO24 address AAC981 (of N7942B) on one mode-S transponder, instead of AAD981."

If you're based in the UK, then probably best to so what I've done and update this ModeS code in the aircraft table to be the B772.

Is there no way Airnav could set up an arrangement with airframes to populate its server?

No, airframes doesn't allow bot-type access.

I've seen that on the website but didn't know if they would work something out for a company like airnav.

The trouble with this aircraft is that it's sending out the wrong ModeS code.  Even airframes.org would resolve this as either the C172 or the B772.  If you were in the US, you might actually pickup the C172 aircraft.

What needs fixing is the aircraft!!

Thats true maybe they should read the instruction manual again. Then again how many times do I read the instructions...

It did seem to moving a lot faster than a C172 !

Hi,

I am the owner of N7942B.  The miscode has actually caused some minor but sort of funny glitches here when flying around Dallas Texas a few years back and the American Jet was in the same airspace. 

Perhaps there is a huge bill for Air Traffic services waiting in the UK.
