Looks as if the network is down. I'm receiving no network ac.
-
AirNav did say that with the introduction of the new server that there may be periods of down-time
-
Looks like the Network is back up again.

AirNav did say that with the introduction of the new server that there may be periods of down-time
And I thought it was just me...
-
This outage is related to the upgrade we are doing to our brand new server. As explained on a previous post some minor outages will occur during the next 10 days.
-
I haven't received any network data in over 12 hours. Is this a "minor" outage?
-
Hi there
I am the same chaps,no network for 3 hrs(not complaining, just concuring with other users).
Regards Terry.
-
Please bear with us, as mentioned above we are trying to get a new server as the current one was damaged by a server crash which should be ready soon.
-
Hi There.
Thanks for the update AirNav,on the ball as usual.
Regards Terry.
-
As most of you may have noticed our network has been unstable during the last 24 hours with an average of 15% times down. We are working on this issue as I write and making some modifications to the server connection software. More news to follow in a few hours.
-
Back with me at 2340.

I noticed a strange phenomena whilst the server was down.
I can usually receive flights out to about 80 miles in Mylog especially to the north and north east, the south and west are poor. I live in a bungalow surrounded by houses and in order to get better reception I would have to substantially increase the height of my mast and antenna which is not possible. I have the Elad mast head preamp though and will change my coax to better qualty soon which hopefully will improve matters.
Whilst the server was down I was receiving flights out to 140 miles in the north and out across the Isle of Man 90 miles or so to the west, but as soon as the network came up again these flights were only shown as network??
There is a Ryan Air over North Wales now only showing on Network but within Mylog when the server is down.
Anyone know why this "phenomena" happens? I am a radio ham so I am aware of different propogation conditions etc but this is happening as soon as the server goes off?
Thanks
Terry

.and down again at 0930 :-(
-
I understand the reasons for the loss of the network etc as explained by AirNav but are these problems also affecting MyFlights?
At the moment MyFlights keep disappearing then coming back and are moving very slowly and then jumping to the next position. They are acting in some ways like network flights.
Have changed antennas and it is the same so not an antenna problem.
Are others experiencing this?

HI Terry I am seeing similar, the aircraft appear to move more like network than local. I am also seeing the symbol change from the aircraft and other details to the white circle. I understand this is when no position is being sent. I had ten aircraft showing but only two with positions on the map. Of the other 8 two flybe always are like this mode s I think. The other 6 were A Swissair 2 American Airllines, 2 Airfrance and what else into Belfast but Easyjet. None of these had the globe symbol showing when all normally would?

Just deselect the "Get Flights From RadarBox Network" and your live flights will be fine.
I think that it's caused by RB looking for Network data and not getting it because the Network is down.
-
Thanks John for your reply. Pleased to know I am not the only one.
Thanks Allocator. I de-selected Get Flights and all OK.
Thanks again.

"our network has been unstable during the last 24 hours with an average of 15% times down."
Well, since yesterday morning; I only received network flights during one hour.....:-(

Well, in the overall scheme of things - 18 months as a RadarBox owner - this isn't a disaster, especially when it's work to improve the Server.
As an owner of an SBS-1 for 2 and a half years, Kinetic NEVER produced their promised MapModeS Network and that really does disappoint me!
-
Hello chaps,
Totally agree with Allocator,i we should appreciate what we have over the competition,at least we can converse with the manufacturer and get answers very quickly through the forum, not just as Allocator rightly says get empty jestures which do not come to fruition,as i too own an SBS-1,but never use it now as the promise of MapModeS never materialised but thank goodness RB did.I think a little patience is the order of the day ,s the problem has been identified and is being rectified at this time.Just my view of things as they stand.
Regards Terry.

And they are working their weekend!
-
Afternoon All,
I echo the views of other posters. We have been informed of the situation , a slight inconvenience, as we all probably use RB more at weekends, but after all it is for the greater good, an even better product for all of us to enjoy in the future.
Cheers
Phil

Fenris,
We are always working :)

Fenris,
We are always working :)
Presumably to the sound of beating drums and the crack of the whip? ;-)
-
As support mentioned we are working on the weekend to have the new server ready by next Thursday. Unfortunately the server will continue to be down for a few minutes until then.
-
Just thought I would put my radar box on means its a lovely day here at the moment on the coast just above Dover and noticed the network. Any ideas when it might be back any one ?With it being a nice day Ican see numerous aircraft going over. Colin.
-
Am I the only one who hardly ever uses the network? I tend to focus on local traffic most of the time. What I do notice when the network goes down is a slowdown of RB when it's trying to upload my aircraft to the network. I then end up turning off upload sharing, and then find days later that I've still got sharing turned off.
-
When I'm working down near Heathrow, I tend to use RB without the Network function. However, I leave Share Flight Data selected and it doesn't slow down RB at all. When the Network is down, I find that RB does slow down unless I deselect "Get Flights From Network" - so I don't think that the "Share data" selection makes a difference any more as it did in earlier versions of RB.

Hi All
Having Read this thread, I thought let me have a look.
With the network on (Get Flights from Radarbox Network) Ticked -- Myfights showing about 125. Turned it off and wow now showing 170.
Now tell me does the network normally effect myfights like that or is it something to do with AirNav working on the network, if it normally affect it like this I think i will leave mine off.
Now showing 185 in myflights, never had it like that before and showing greater coverage on the map, Take a look at www.absbta2006.co.uk and click on the link.

Hi Theo, great button, but does it do anything? Also on that screenshot, I just love the way RYR2373 is overlapped with another, so that you can't read either!!!
-
Theo,
I guess that this means that you are using a private network sharing system that has been disowned by Kinetic.
Can I switch on my SBS-1 now and have access to all the other data from all other SBS-1 users?
-
Not to mention the great outline - I think its Norfolk.
Theo, Take a look at
http://www.absbta2006.co.uk/airnav_radarbox.htm
And see how good it looks.
-
Extract from the SBS-1 Basestation manual.
As at the writing of this version of the manual, MapModeS is not currently available
And its said that since I got mine in July 2006!
-
We are really looking forward to Theos response to this considering his theories in posts earlier.
Theo have you shot your self in the foot again? :)
-
What do you mean do you not know what a questionmark means, probley not otherwise you would wrote Theo's
only ask what that was cause i see it only on one of the streams.
PS. Still littlebit pisstoff because someone has some critic about youre product (how old are you anyway?) watch the questionmark.......
-
Sorry Theo, but doesn't a questionmark just mean a question. You said "what does this mean then...?", and showed a picture with MapModeS highlighted, so all I did was reply about the real state of MapModeS.
-
wasn't ment for you tarbat but was adressed to airnav support, he is still pisstoff i think.
butt anyway in dutsch we say wat betekend dit dan (translated for airnav only it means) what's this then ? <-----=a question 8-))

Hi,
Help please, I am still learning. How do I deselect 'Get flights from network'. Am not sure where to find this button.

Maybe it got lost in translation to you. What we asked simply means have you made a mistake in mentioning MapMode-S in this thread?
Regarding being annoyed, we are not annoyed at all :) You mentioned a competition product which you thought did a certain a feature and it doesn't.
-
Help please, I am still learning. How do I deselect 'Get flights from network'. Am not sure where to find this button.
It's a tick box at the bottom of the Network tab view.
-
No, there are two of us :o)
Am I the only one who hardly ever uses the network?
-
Thanks Tarbat. Found it. I also got an email from Airnav.
Thanks

pfff was planning to answer but better not before you jump to some conclusion's. you better see who started mentioning MapModeS instead hoping me to get off guard....
-
We have no problem with it being mentioned, your implying though its working. Your last post suggests you want to safe your self some embarrassment.
-
you know youre absolutly right......
-
Well gentlemen,
If i were Don King i would class that as a technical K.O. A nice distraction for a Sunday evening chaps... Well done?
-
Anyway, back to our main job, Server is being work on nonstop, apologies once again.
-
Hi People,
Well, I don´t know if I have some problem here, but in two computers, two RBs I have no Network working and in both, Network Account Information is blank.
Somthing wrong here ?
Cheers. Juan

Juan, maybe the title of this thread "Network Down" is a clue :-)
AirNav are working on the Network at the moment to fix a server problem.
-
Allocator,
That´s true ... but I wrongly undrstood Airnav Support telling : " Server is being work on nonstop " as server is working ... I´m so sorry ....
Ok Let´s wait.
Cheers

I've just seen a nice little presentation put together by Theo trashing RadarBox. I do feel a bit p****d o*f that I actually tried to help this guy when all he wanted to do was to make trouble - oh well, there's always somebody who wants to spoil things.
I wonder what user name he will use next time he tries to make trouble.
Hey ho!
-
I've got network flights!
0038 Monday 18.01.2009

.but not for long. Gone off again at 0130.
-
.and back on again at 0159.

To all our users we are working hard on this issue. Expect more news tomorrow.
AirNav Systems new server will be deployed later this week. In the meanwhile we are doing our best to avoid further problems on the current server.
Again thanks for your patience.
