As you may be aware we had a serious server outage during the last 2 days.
It was initially caused by the huge numbers visiting the RB24.com site which caused Airnav Systems main data server to fail. We tried to bring it up during the next 2 hours but every attempt was unsucessful.
We had to bring 3 new servers to face the huge demand we expect and are expecting because of RB24.com release.
The bad news: we were out of network for 2 days.
The good news: our infratructure is growing and hopefully being more reliable and with more redundancy.
At this time almost all services are up and running except for our FAA flight data connection which will have to wait 24-48 more hours.
Again we really thank you for all your understanding.
We will continue to work hard to bring new developements to the RadarBox family.
-
Thanks Dev, very much appreciate the work being put in today of all days, hope there is a bonus on its way for those required to work.
I note RB24 is back on line but when do you expect the RB Network to be back up as it doesnt appear to be working

There is a final issue which is not allowing some RB software to access the network. It's a server problem and we are working on it.
-
Sorry guys
First "2 days" out of business, that is really optimistic
second suc6 and could that final issue be the cause of crashing rb software
suddenly rb crashed here
-
Thanks for the update Dev

All should be working now. Pls confirm.
-
i confirm
-
At the moment I'm getting the network OK on Radarbox, but getting nothing on RB24.
Happy Christmas anyway!

Same here
-
I'm also not getting anything on RB24, shows "0 total" in the left corner.
OT for RB24: On the www.airnavsystems.com page the forum link don't work, they point to forum.airnavsystems.com, guess they should point to www.airnavsystems.com/forum instead.
I'm also unable to edit my entries in the forum, it just shows empty fields.

Good news. Most of the services are working but a few still remain to be configured (like the forum.airnavsystems.com entry to access the forum). We will be working on this today.
Tks again for your patience and pls continue to report any problem you may find.
-
Hi Support and All,
with the exception of Radarbox24 everything works here again as of old.
Kind Regards, John
-
Yes we are checking RadarBox24 right now. Tks for the update.
-
Okay, still waiting for the Radarbox network and the website to come back here in western Canada. I used a proxy server to logon here to see what is happening. I did get an email from support saying it could take 24 hours to come back which seems excessive to me.
-
Everything should be working fine at this time.
-
Well, it isn't. Can't connect to www.airnavsystems.com with either of my PCs or my cell phone, I have to use a proxy to leave these messages. Will try again in morning, it is late here.
-
Can confirm that RB24 is working again
-
SpeedWagon,
As the server has changed the IP address is different. This means that when you enter "airnavsystems.com" it needs to lookup a new IP address, this change takes a while to propogate the world. Some lookup servers (ISP dependant) are quick in updating others take up to 24hours, so hopefully you shouldn't need to use a proxy soon.
-
Both an network and rb24 up and running yesterday. Thanks for all the effort you have put in to rectify the problems.

Quick question though. On my airnav screen it is showing AWE 701 KCLT-EDDF flying west over the UK but on the rb24 screen it is showing AWE 701 EDDF- KPHL flying west over the UK? Any reasons for the discrepency?
Thanks in advance

I have some doing the same. I believe the reason is Alan (Runway31) is currently working on updating the flight db and changes have been made to the main AirNav server which feeds RB24, and means that you are probably picking up flight info from your own db which is unchanged and will remain so until you download next update file.

Trevor,
I cannot give a reason for the discrepancy on your system. I have however just looked up the flight on the network and RB24 and they are both showing EDDF-KPHL. I have just noted the flight continues on to KLAX and have now updated the route.
Were you by any chance picking it up on your box instead of the Network. If this is the case the route was last updated on 19/12 after the last Navdata release and will show the previous entry until the next release. Network flights and RB24 both use the same data direct from the server.

Thanks Alan and X for your kind replies. Alan your answer will probably be right, however i have just noticed another one EXS 510 looking to fly into EGNT (Newcastle) my local airport. On the radarbox it is showing EGNT-LKPR and on 24 it is showing LKPR-EGNT which is correct. Sorry for the questions just wondering why the differences.
Thanks anyway for the great work you are doing.
Kind regards
Trevor

Hi Trev,
The routing the AWE took would have taken it over your reception area and the info on the Navdata is wrong, the server is correct.
On the server EXS510 is LKPR-EGNT and is the same in my Navdata and was updated to that on 20121101. How yours is the other way round I dont know.
Are you using the current Navdata?
BTW I hope to have a new Navdata available very soon.
Alan
-
Hope this 24 hour roll out really does work as I still can't get network traffic here in UK either - will up date when I have it...
-
Thanks Alan,
How do i check to see if i am using the current Navdata? or should i wait till you have the new one sorted?
Sorry for being such a pain :)
Cheers

If you go to file/database explorer/aircraft it should show around 190,000 aircraft in x/ms
The last one is on the sticly at top of fourm 20121206 and is now not available

Good Morning from western Canada. Still no connectivity here and it has been somewhat more than 24 hours. I can't believe one of the largest ISPs in Canada is this slow in updating its DNS. I also can't believe you would make changes to your network that would hang some of your customers out to dry.
When I ping airnavsystems.com I get 74.55.96.226, is that anywhere close?
-
No, the AirNav RB network does not seem to be accessible from Cape Town, South Africa. RB24 is working but obviously it does not display any aircraft here as I can not share on the ANRB network.
-
We are doing some maintenance work on teh Network at this time. Should be ready in 30 mins. Our apologies for this.

Just in case you are unware, the Airnav server crashed at the weekend leaving us without the forum/Network and RB24. The server required to be re-built hence the change of address, I am sure than Airnav would have preferred not to have inconvenienced you never mind the rest of us.

I was able to fix my connectivity problem by changing my DNS server to Nortons. There are still quite a number out there with the old IP. I wish I had been told this in the beginning.
-
Alan;
Yes I know about the crash. I also know now that they changed their domain provider in the middle of all this and as such their IP address has changed. Many ISP are still serving up the old address. I am not here to sew the seeds of discontent, just decrying the lack of useful information that I had to dig up on my own to solve the problem.
-
are the problems still on going? my Radar box software is telling me I have to register with AirNav also I cannot open my ShipTrax software at all.
-
You would have found the info if you read the forum Speedwagon
