System Outage
« on: January 05, 2009, 07:38:25 PM »
As most of you may have noticed we have experienced a system outage since 7 AM UTC today. This has been caused by a severe failure in one of the drives on our central server in Dallas, TX.

For RadarBox users this failure resulted in the loss of the network feature for a few hours.
The server has now been restored and we are evaluating the causes of this incident. Our sincere apologies for this fact which was the biggest incident/downtime for our company since 2005. We will do our best to avoid it from happening in the future.

It's never fun when this happens, but in theory RAID arrays should make the chances of it happening much less.

Regarding the network function, are there plans to increase the number of servers? As traffic grows it's going to be necessary eventually.

We plan to do that and yes, we are now upgrading to RAID 10.
It has been a very bad day for us.
