SMA Plug - BNC Adaptor
« on: January 17, 2009, 02:38:40 PM »
I know that there has been a bit of confusion in the past regarding the adaptor needed to connect an antenna with a BNC plug to the RadarBox BNC socket - including some insistence that Maplin UK didn't sell the adaptor.  Well, I just picked up another one this morning an here it is - Maplin Code RS85G.

I have a Elad pre-amp inline, do you now if maplin or anyone else sells a patch lead with the BNC to fit the Elad and a SMA on the other end to fit the RB.

Cheers mate

I'm afraid that I am not familiar with the Elad pre-amp.  Can you post a picture?

Hello Mate

I am at work at the moment so cannot get a photo - A patch lead goes from the pre-amp power unit to the back of the sbs (as it was) with BNC connecters both end. Thought maplin or someone maybe able to make a patch lead with BNC one end and SMA the other.  This would help me and possibly other with a better connection and not the adapter, which I think some people find a bit awkward.

Cheers

I think that this is the device?

You only need the adaptor as posted above and I'm not sure that Maplin do a SMA/BNC patch lead.  You could make one up yourself, depending how good you are at DIY.

Yes Thats the pre-amp mate which sits as close to the antenna as possible, but then there is the power unit which send the power to the above unit. There is a patch lead from the power unit to the back of the RB.
I am going past maplins tomorrow, i will take the lead and see what they say.
Will let you and others now what I find.

Cheers

When I bought my Wimo antenna (plus Elad Base 'T' and pre-amp) it included an SMA to BNC patch lead as part of the deal.  They forgot to pack it, and an E Mail to them produced the correct result - they put it in the post the same day.

Great News - mine came from ML&S who only deal in the Sbs now, so i will have to get one made up.
