No sound for alerts
« on: February 07, 2010, 06:41:10 PM »
I am no longer getting sounds for alerts and am missing a lot of them.
There is info in the "play a sound" box and I get sound from other sources in my laptop.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Brad

Marsa

I had the same issue.  Check that the D005 that you are pointed at is not from one of the old beta versions which you may have uninstalled.  I realised that the D005 that I had my radarbox alert browse field was the one from the 3.06 version.  As I had uninstalled 3.06 and the pings had disappeared.  I have now browsed again to the D005 in the 3.13 version and I am fully pinged up again.

ACW,
I'm not sure how to go about doing that.  I do have the most current version installed.

On the alerts interface browse and check whether your pointing to the file D005 in your RadarBox 3.13 folder? If not point to it.

This is what is in the box:C:\Program Files\AirNav Systems\AirNav RadarBox 2009\data\d005.wav.     When I click on browse it is an empty "screenshots" file.

2009 is one of the old files that you have probably deleted. When you click the browse button, use the icons on the left to find your computer/C: drive.  Then look for where you saved Radarbox 2010 (usually in program files if you went with the default save).  Clicking to open on the top level of radarbox 2010, you will then find a 'data' folder.  Inside that data folder is the D005.wav that you require.

When I open the data file in airnav 2010 I have the following files: Photo, mylog.db3, D012, navdata and D016.  Sorry to be so dense about this but I'm not seeing what I need.

Best thing to do now is to go to Windows explorer.  Do a search for file 'D005.dat'.  Note down the exact location of the file and then use the computer icon on the alert browse to follow the exact same path down to the file.  There are issues with the way XP works in that it can split files into its 'virtual store' which are relatively hard for a novice to navigate too.

marsa, what operating system are you running?  I suspect Vista or Win7, and what you're looking at are files in the virtual store.  The wav file will be in the program files folders somewhere.

A simpler solution.  Download the attached wav file, save it in a folder that you can easily find.  Then open that file in Radarbox alerts settings.

I thought it was only Vista and Windows 7 that did that - XP leaves files where you put them !

This is what you well see.  Use the Browse button next to the 'Play a Sound' box - note the directory path.

I did a search for D005.dat and the result was no files found.  I reinstalled radarbox and a search still does not find the file.???

Why did you do a re-install, that won't fix the problem.  What Operating System are you using?

Did you even try what I suggested?
