For you info a post on mode-s indicates that it came out of UUDL and it looks like it is T-706 of the Angola Air Force.
D2-FGE appears to be now T-706 which the most recent picture I can see was taken at IAR/UUDL in 2015 which would be a very likely departure point for todays aircraft.
Planebase reports it as seen at Luganda in July and using 0900D0
But...
Seen at IAR in June 2018 were T-707 and T-708 the latter unknown to RP
https://russianplanes.net/id232130 Perhaps 707 or indeed the unknown 708 would make better choices?
A follow up post details as follows
I can't add anything definitive to this thread I'm afraid, but I do have
these comments/observations to make - which may, or may not, add to what
is known...
090083 - Picked up in Cyrpus 05.10; 07.11; 12.11; 08.12; 12.12 & 08.17 -
none of which had any flight ID data.
It's interesting to note that the hit on this hex code in 12.12
(01.12.12 to be precise) occurred within 11 minutes of a hit on 091083
from the same location, which *might* indicate that the latter was
actually a miscode of, or corrupt data packet from, 090083.
Furthermore, I note that 091083 was also picked up in Cyprus on 16.02.13
& Barry's message posted to the Group at the time said this...
"Just picked up this hex transiting the Mediterranean from overhead
Antalya to Cairo. Using callsign on R/T of D2-FGE. Making this an An-72
c/n 36572070695 of the Angolan Air Force"
As far as I'm aware, the Angolan hex code block only goes as high as
090FFF, so 091083 isn't a legal Angolan hex code, and thus is indicative
of it being a miscode/corrupt transmission - all of which *may* indicate
that 090083 was the code legitimately assigned to D2-FGE, and still in
use on that airframe; albeit now marked as T-706.
The only info that I have on 0900D0 is that it was picked up in Khartoum
in 02.12 @ FL196/\FL205 & in Cyprus in 10.13 @ FL230, and I've found
nothing to connect this to D2-FGE - other than a comment from the late
Glenn Herriot who wrote this to the Group in 02.13 ..."I have D2-FGE as
0900D0"...
All things considered, I'm inclined to suggest there's probably an
element of doubt that hex code 0900D0 is/was associated with
D2-FGE/T-706, and to my mind it's more likely that this airframe is
allocated 090083... but please feel free to draw a different conclusion
entirely.
