Hi,
Not heard anything from support for a week so here goes.
AirNav on win xp netbook, no problems working perfectly.
New DELL XPS Win 7desktop well...................
1) Deleted all AirNav system so no trace on PC.
2)Load new program from internet.
3)Download 64 bit new drivers.
4)Using NORTON internet security 2011, as per netbook.
Problems then arise.
Plug box in and works with normal aerial.
However network works but info not being stored,
Look on internet with this running in background and crashes/error message ANRB has stopped working. ( Okay on netbook ).
Getting very annoying now. can anyone help ? Could I ring someone ?
Must be something on Win 7 as see loads on here having problems.
Storing program on C:Airnav etc not using program files as on earlier posts.
Thanks
Mike.

Try and run RadarBox as admin. This can be done by right clicking on the RadarBox icon and you can select to run as admin.
-
Make sure the data files are not marked as read only. That could have happened when you transferred them across.
Don't ask me how I know ;)
-
From what I can see from the threads on here the problems seem to be associated with Windows 7 rather than Airnav.

Hi,
just installed again after complete clean up.
Chris, re the data files if I look at them they are not ticked but box seems a dark blue ? Is this right and which ones do I adjust ?
AirNav run as administrator and same again as soon as I surf the net it crashes !
Help.
Mike.

Send us a screen shot of what your seeing please or put it on the forum.
-
Hi,
Can't do screenshot as program locks up.
Basically all goes to a light grey colour with following error box in middle :
ANRB.exe has stopped working
A program caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is necessary.
Close program.

What about of the data files that you mentioned were blue?
-
Hi,
Not sure if someone else can please check there files in Win 7 and see what colour the box is.
No idea what a blue shaded box is for, normally just a tick in it or white, the blue shaded box is just in data/logo/flags/silhouettes.
All the others are blank and not ticked read only or hidden when looked in properties of each.
Not sure what Chris meant, which ones ??
Thanks
Mike.

Hiya Mike, clive here long time no see!
Charley had a similar problem with his new netbook, it only had 1 gig RAM. He put and extra 1 GIG RAM in and all worked well. It seems that the Airnav programme takes a lot of memory up in use. regards clive.
-
Thats not true, the RadarBox shouldn't take up much memory.
There is another reason for Mikes problems at the moment. Mike is your Windows 7 an work machine? has it been locked down in any way?
-
as soon as I surf the net it crashes !
Hello
I (and I think some others) have found issues when running internet explorer 8 with ANRB. Airnav claim this doesn't happen but since I moved to firefox ANRB hasn't stopped working.
I hope this helps you.
Andrew

I use IE8 and ANRB and dont have any issues. I would expect most people use IE8 as it is the main player in the browesr market.
I surew way of finding out, try Firefox instead of IE8 and see if it makes a difference.
Alan

Hi
I also had problems with IE locking the ANRB up and now only use firefox.

Hi,
Been on to DELL and they have done a full check and all is in order.
Can Microsoft Office 2010 professional I have running be a problem ?
It is a problem on my Aerodata database ??
Mike.
-
It is a problem on my Aerodata database ??
That's a possibility, if Aerodata isn't releasing a lock on the database, for example?
-
Hi Mike
I don't have WIN7 so i don't know the ins and outs of it.
But when you boot up the PC what programs are running as part of the start-up and have you been able to disable them and then try running Airnav and the Internet.
Is the Microsoft Office 2010 professional that you mentioned running or just part of the software loaded on the computer.
Brian
-
Hi,
Nothing is running. Been informed today that Office is very picky and wont run my Aerodata to its full potential ie report writer does not work get error codes.
Startup is empty when PC is booted up.
Just so bloody annoying as perfect with Win XP on my netbook.
Mike.

Suggestion: I run windows7 64 bit. The only problem I had was when closing internet explorer it would shut down ARNB. This was caused by having IE to delete history when closing IE. Check your IE settings. Mine is now fine when closing IE.
Hope this helps,
Paul

Hi Mike
Looks as if you are at wits end. I was talking to someone recently who had Win 7 problems and he used the help in this link. Only a long shot but hope it helps as being without my RB is not worth thinking about.

Hi,
Tried above still the same so give up !!!

hi,
I think I've got a similar problem, I have radbox now installed on my older computer and it now runs ok, thanks to a lot of help from the forum, and nav support. However I can't get it working on my new laptop windows 7,it loads the software ok, but tells me there's a problem with drivers, hardware not connected! I downloaded the drivers via the forum but when I try to unzip them into radar box, it tells me "access denied" I also noticed the installer on windows 7 is different to the one on windows xp, the xp installer guides you through in more detail, exactly as shown in the manual. Windows 7 does not do this,or give you the options to select the route, I wondered if this has anything to do with it. Im not computer minded but, it's only a thought. I haven't got a clue how to get it installed using windows 7.
Cheers

Hello
I also had alot of problems with IE8 and anrb. Starting up IE8 shuts down anrb. Changing to firefox didn't help
Now it runs without problems for 1 year.
Look in the problem history of your computer and you wil see that the shutdown give's always the same fault code.
Search for this fault code on the www and you wil find the solution of your problem. It has something to do with masterbrowser automatic selection.
I am not a computer nerd but i solved this problem.

Hi Mike
I have gone through your thread here and this seems to be a very bizarre issue. I would recommend the following:
Run the application in another compatibility mode, like Vista or Windows XP (right click the anrb.exe file and use the tape on top). See how it behaves.
You may also try updating your W7 installation with the latest Service Pack from Microsoft which was released last week. It is rather large and takes a little bit of time to install.
Just curious but is the build on the PC the original build installed by Dell?
Let me know how this works out.
Paul
-
Hi,
Updated the latest windows 7 service pack and still the same.
Yes the DELL is brand new and nothing has been changed.
Mike.
-
Is this the only program that is crashing like this?
Is the computer working well for all other tasks?
Right-click on the Airnav folder in Program Files.. is it set to read-only per chance?
-
Mike,
Must be really annoying you now - FWIW you have my sympathy!
I use Win 7 32-bit on a Dell desktop XPS420, with IE8 and ANRB runs fine. My airnav software is installed in c:/Airnav. Unfortunately I'm not a PC expert, however if you would like to cross-check any settings I'm happy to help in this way.
-
Hi Mike,
You have probably read my previous post regarding windows 7. I have now got as far as loading the drivers but, windows 7 won't allow it, it tells me the drivers are not digitally signed, another problem. however, I did read an interesting comment by VFR COPILOT in their support section regarding vista & windows 7. I have also tried running compatibility modes, service pack, admin, etc, does not work.
I know, nothing of what I have said helps with your problem. As far as I'm concerned I've stopped trying to install it on my laptop. I'll stick to using it on windows xp, ( 3/4yr old computer) crazy is'nt it.
-
delconair,
If your using Windows 7 64bit then you need the drivers download from
http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/ANRB/drivers/ANRB64bitDrivers.zip
Otherwise it will say they are not signed but you cna ignore that and continue.
-
Hi AirNav,
I did download the drivers but windows wont accept it on the installation to radarbox, refers to code. 28. Code.52. not digitally certified. I've tried all sorts to get round it.. hopeless... I may in time take the laptop to a computer specialist. Let him try his luck, Iv'e given up, it's got me beat. Iv'e drained the coffee pot and what was left of the paracetamol. Ps. It was the 64bit I downloaded as per system.) Thanks for the reply.
Delconair.
-
Yes, 64-bit Windows 7 can be pain with unsigned drivers.. I can help you but sounds like you are at your wits end.
If you press F8 before Windows 7 boots, it will have a menu option to allow you to boot into a mode that will allow use of unsigned drivers. This is a quick fix option.
To perm. fix issue there is a file that exists that will allow you to sign the driver yourself and you won't have to always boot via F8 'trick'
-
the DELL is brand new
Mine aswell.
RB is running fine from the beginning I started it running late december on my new (Dell) Windows 7 PC. I needed some help from support with finding and installing the drivers but after that when all was installed correctly, everything runs fine and correctly.
-
Hi,
Thanks for all your help. Yes all other programs work.
After the service pack update for win 7 ANRB does not crash now straight away when going on the internet. However it now has the old fault of freezing when it does, don't get the ANRB has stopped working error screen.
Just looked on the program files and the read only box was coloured in with a light blue colour. Whta's that all about rather than being blank or ticked ?? Removed the blue so the box is now white.
I would love to know why it works on some and not on others ??
Mike.
-
Light blue means some files or folders within the directory are set to read-only. This may explain why information was not being held.
Am afraid Windows / application issues are very difficult to troubleshoot as there will be many parameters at play. Main ones like Firewall, security settings and anti-virus are just tip of the iceberg...
Would recommend downloading VirtualBox and virtualizing a windows machine and run Airnav through that.. could be a little advanced for some users though.
