I'm going to have another stab at this - last time this idea got hijacked by people (including me) who wanted to get on the users map.
I want this thread to be a heads-up for unusual locations of RadarBox reports on the network so that people using the network can be alerted to whizz over to have a look. Users taking their RadarBoxes on trips can also tell us to look out for reports from unusual places that they will be visiting.
We don't really need to know about another box near Heathrow (or if you keep your RadarBox in an old fish tank), but if there are reports coming from Hawaii, Nepal or Kenya, this would be the thread to report it, live, so that we can alll have a look.
I'll start the ball rolling by pointing out that we're currently getting reports from Istanbul - we've seen them occasionally before, but very rarely.
Anyone else think this is a good idea?
Rod
EDIT Darn it - I took so long writing this, that Istanbul has switched off and gone to bed. :-(
-
I'm just up the road from Heathrow - Ooops, sorry Rod, couldn't resist :-)
I agree that it would be good to hear the more unusual RadarBox locations.
-
Nothing personal, 'Cator! But you get my drift.
Rod
-
Istanbul's back :-)

Hi Guys. From June 10th I will be in DFW then travelling down to Gulf Shores Alabama, (for a two week holiday) provided I can get an internet connection I will be networking. Hope to get some interesting stuff in the Deep South.
-
south west sardinia, tons of military flights over me but i can't see them on airnav box, the best i get is london- johannesburg or incoming from usa to israel, is that unusual?, also someone in north sardinia, and malta but not always on
-
Tommy - looking forward to seeing your network input - have a good holiday!
Sterigia - we've been seeing your input recently - it's interesting stuff, and it probably is what you would expect.
Our Malta correspondent has pretty good coverage of Luqa - yes, it's a shame he's not online more often. The north African coast is getting better coverage these days, and we've been getting good returns from Tel Aviv, too. It seems to be more than our Cyprus user would be able to see. I wonder if there's actually an RB user in Israel.
A few months ago I pondered about a box in Colombia, and then one turned up (not as often as we would like). Perhaps if I put in a request for a user to appear in northern Egypt, someone will oblige!
Rod
-
It's very busy around Shanghai at the moment.
Do we have a permanent user round there these days, or is it a pilot making frequent visits?
Rod
-
We have seen a continuous increase in China orders lately so more China locations will appear.
-
Excellent - Beijing area's busy, as well as Shanghai this morning.
Rod
-
maybe not everybody has a flat internet rate like i have. most of the time i leave it on just for the rest of us even if i don't watch, specially when i'm at work. pity there's no oceanic coverage, i. e. pacific islands, those i listen on hf.
cheers
frank

Someone had one in Brazil once. I remember this because there was a USAF/FEST C-32B flying around down there.
-
We've actually got two guys who network pretty much 24/7 in Brazil - Juangelb in the Sao Paulo area, which seems to always be busy, and another guy at Fortaleza in the north who gets a fair bit of transatlantic traffic.
I seem to recall that we occasionally get returns from the Rio area as well - may be a resident or a visitor - who knows?
Rod
-
We've actually got two guys who network pretty much 24/7 in Brazil - Juangelb in the Sao Paulo area,
I am also in São Paulo, Brazil - 24/7.
-
Sorry RNAGG - I knew you were there, but I'd forgotten your handle!
Keep up the good work!
Rod
-
Rod
I'll have Istanbul on the network for the rest of today and tomorrow morning (as long as the internet connection doesn't keep dropping) and then it's back to my usual haunt, Mumbai.
Steve
-
Hi Steve - thanks for the Istanbul coverage - it's great that you have a view of the tarmac there, but we like Mumbai too :-)
Have you got a friend in Delhi who wants to set up a RadarBox?
Rod
-
I see Steve's back in Mumbai now, and Beijing is still online - wonder if it's going to be a permanent setup...
Rod
-
Any RB's in Iceland Rod?
-
Never seen one - are you offering to set one up there? Keflavik gets lots of interresting traffic.
Rod
-
We're getting excellent coverage of the Aegean this afternoon - seems to be a new Greek location more towards Turkey, and extending well over south-west Turkey.
-
Never seen one - are you offering to set one up there? Keflavik gets lots of interresting traffic.
Rod
if a float my RB out on a dingy with a extra long coax from rhyl then maybe Rod......... I'm from stockport and was just asking about iceland (not the frozen food stores)...just back from a boozy BBQ so if it all sounds abit 9y349y7q3fiwfyu<<<<<<<<<its Mr Booze
-
I see we're now getting returns from the ground at Tel Aviv, extending to northern Egypt!
Now, where shall I wish for next?
Rod
-
An unusual RadarBox non-location - nothing from Sao Paulo at the moment - what's up, guys?
Rod
-
Not sure if we already posted this one but we are selling more and more units in China lately. Check for China Network sharers as they will increase a lot in the near future.
-
Rod
What about the Falklands, plenty of L1011 there.
-
Yes, but they're all RAF, and without broadcasting location, they won't appear on the network :-(
Rod
-
Dev - you did mention it before, but we don't mind a repeat of good news!
Rod
-
Thought that the RAF where now using charters as well on this run
-
Let's get a box there so we can find out ;-)
Rod
-
It would be good, but unfortunately my time for trips like that are now over.
Got a more sedate job now, teaching!!! ;-)
-
Same here!
Rod
-
There appears to be somebody on from Colombia tonight. Appears to be centred around SKGY - Guaymaral.
-
In 2 weeks we will have a permanent H24 connection in Luanda, Angola.
-
Ian - thanks for that - I seem to have missed that action from there this evening - perhaps it's Perezoso, who's based near SKBO - haven't seen much from him recently.
Dev - good news - we might get some interesting new stuff from Angola including, presumabl,y Europe-South Africa overflights.
Rod
-
Rod,
He wasn't on for very long. In fact, as soon as I had sent the info, the signal disappeared. Maybe a dodgy location !
Ian
-
i cover europe - south africa overflights, when they are in range, i would like to follow them the whole way but it will be impossible
frank, sardinia
-
Yes, but they're all RAF, and without broadcasting location, they won't appear on the network :-(
Rod
The RAF have been using Globlespan to send troops from RAF Brize Norton via Ascension Island to the Falklands. so will their planes show up or do they have to switch off their transponers when carrying out work for the mod?
I know Globlespan advertised my dream Job 1 month on and and 1 month off based on Ascension Island I could have been asked to rate cabin & pilot's and may have had to travel to the Falkands
But the job offered had closed by the time I read it just my luck
Puddy
-
We did have a report that a Globespan plane had been spotted on the network actually at Ascension Island, but as far as I know, that was a one-off. Either the RB user was just passing through, or whether FlyGlobespan normally do switch off position reporting when not in civvy skies, I really don't know.
Rod

The Ascension/Falklands flights (GSM8510/8511 & RRR3321) are usually operated by GSM B763 G-CEFG. It has come up on the network on at least half a dozen occasions from the South Atlantic.
AFAIK, it broadcasts ADS-B all the way, in fact I don't think there is any provision for switching it off other than pulling the CBs on the transponder (which would then disable TCAS) or turning off the GPS (also not a good idea).
-
Thanks for the info, Dave - added those flights to my FleetWatch.
Rod

I have a mate who is departing to southern places in the next couple of weeks. I have been trying to convince him of the vrtues of this great piece of kit, and I am sure with a little push he may jump and buy.
Now just to convince him that he needs to take it down south, when he has bought it.
Not sure what networking facilities are down at MPA these days though?
-
We're getting returns from the ground at Beijing at the moment.
Rod
-
We're getting returns from the ground at Rhodes at the moment.
Rod
-
First time I've seen returns from Panama - watching COA788 on finals to MPTO Tocumen International.
Rod
-
Rod,
Someone is on in Moscow today. Seeing activity at both UUEE and UUDD. Used the 4 letter codes as to complicated to spell.
Cheers,
Ian
-
Reports from the ground at JFK at the moment - looks like Hamerhead is up and running :-)
Rod
-
Activity around Beijing today.
Ian
-
Auckland is back online after what seems like a long absence.
Rod
-
Looks like there's a box near Corfu - seeing a Rossiya Tu154 on finals at the moment.
EDIT - it's at the airport - good returns from the ground and surroundings now.
Rod
-
hi to all'
i am a new user , airnave 2009 i am in new york city'
have a good day!
hamerhead..
-
It's good to have you on board, Hamerhead!
Rod
-
Good reports coming in from Kuala Lumper today. Rod, no need to panic. So far, all aircraft are showing logos.
Ian
-
must be somone in tunis and olbia. keep them coming!!! now we have all the western med and sardinia covered
frank
-
There is a user in Miami active - welcome!
Pls. keep up the feeding of the network
cheers
Gerald
-
Yes, Gerald - he's got great coverage of the Bahamas - let's hope he keeps going.
Our Tel Aviv RB user is also doing a great job in the Eastern Med linking up with Cyprus, and New Zealand is pretty active today - seems to have better coverage to the north of Auckland, too.
The network keeps getting better!
Rod
-
Hi Rod
I am on in Sydney having just loaded v3.0. Hoping for beter range but even though I had my box checked, range is still very limited. Will also take it to Melbourne and Adelaide in the near future.
Cheers
Mark
-
Hi Mark - thanks for the news - coverage of the East coast is gradually improving.
Good luck with your coverage.
Rod
-
And we have returns from Perth as well at the moment.
Rod
-
Panama's back again :-)
Shame we haven't seen any more from Miami - that was great coverage of a busy area.
Rod
-
I'm in Manila for a couple of days, will stay connected as best as possible.
Steve
-
Seeing your returns from Manila now Steve - thanks!
Rod
-
Hi Steve
Thanks for sharing. I am thinking of heading up there in a couple of months, so great to see that there is some action. Do PAL have any ADSb aircraft or are they all Mode S.
When I left for work it was all Cebu Air.
Cheers
Mark
-
Hi Mark
The PAL a/c are equipped and did show up nicely. The returns you saw were from the second hotel I stayed in, which had thick glass and which the signals from the PAL aircraft seemed to have some difficulty penetrating. Currently in Singapore and suffering the same fate, plenty of returns but no positional info.
I'll be putting in updates via GAS website.
If you'd like any more info re Manila, hotels etc feel free to e-mail me, (details in members list).
Steve
-
Although not a new location, I haven't seen returns from the Cancun peninsular for quite a while - but we've got some now.
Rod
-
This is a new location for me - we're getting returns from Cape Town at the moment.
Rod
-
Rod,
Our man/woman from Colombia is on again tonight. Interesting to see AFR422 F-GLZN from Paris to Bogota on the map.
Cheers,
Ian
-
Just saw the note of the long absence in AKL. It was a holiday (with the Radarbox of course) to Europe. Needless to say it got a good workout there!! It is now back in Auckland for its less stressful existence with a new external antenna to boot. This has increased the coverage considerably. The record distance is 233.2NM/432km. Cheers from Auckland.
-
south west sardinia, tons of military flights over me but i can't see them on airnav box, the best i get is london- johannesburg or incoming from usa to israel, is that unusual?, also someone in north sardinia, and malta but not always on
Hello fogs! I am the one who have been trasmitting from N Sardinia (but FCO to the W is obstracted by local mountain) during in the last month: initially it was over cell and expensive but now that I have an adsl line (but not flat) I will transmit more until sept 5.
From 1 to 15 of August went to NW Argentina and transmitted from there too! I discovered the main route from EZE to N America passed @ 40 miles to the W of my position in the Chaco region, and routes from Santiago- Chile to Europe 60 miles to the S. more in the future from this NW Argentina location.
Hope You enjoyed the cover !
Anyway my base is in GOA NW Italy
ciao to all RB enthusiasts!
hope you'll
-
Thanks for those reports, airdata and kaifone - we've been watching your input with interest - I noticed the better coverage from Auckland some time ago, and our coverage of the whole Mediterranean is getting better andf better!
Rod
-
I'm off to China (Guangzhou/Shenzhen/Shanghai) for a week this week-end. If/when able will share returns through the network.
Steve
-
We'll keep a lookout for you! Have a good trip.
Rod
-
I haven't been paying much attention to the network today, but I did just glimpse an EasyJet flight taking off from Madeira - first time I've seen any returns from there.
Rod
-
We're getting returns from Miami again after what seems to be a log break - long may they continue!
Rod
-
Picking up signals from central Iran. Situated around Imam Khomeini International airport (OIIE). I wonder who has an RB on in that area ?
-
We're getting returns from Seoul at the moment - a first for me.
Rod
-
Guayaquil, Ecuador, is sending returns on the network.
Rod
-
Blimey - we are doing well today - there are returns from the Black Sea cost of Bulgaria at the moment.
EDIT - the box looks as if it might be in central Bulgaria.
Rod
-
Hi, I´m Rodolfo from Mérida, Mex., I have some problems with my RB, but is ok now.
-
Hi Rodolfo
I'm glad your problems are over now. I know that your area is quiet as regards aircraft showing on the network, but at least you get the Volaris A320's flying over. And I assume it is your RadarBox that shows the aircraft around Cancun.
Looking forward to more returns from you in the future.
Rod
-
Perth, Australia, is making a welcome reappearance on the netork at the moment.
Rod
-
We're getting returns from the south of Italy at the moment, from Naples to Sicily.
Rod
-
AND NOW - returns from Honolulu! A first for RadarBox?
Rod
-
Cape Town is online again at the moment.
Rod
-
Rod,
Aloha from Honolulu! I assume it must be me transmitting from 21N/158W!
Fortunate to be on 2 weeks vacation in a hotel on Waikiki beach overlooking the ocean, and by the way, a pretty decent view of the airport about 5 miles away. Can also see USCG Hercs in/out of Barber's Point. Will keep sending on those occasions when we are in the room doing nothing (not very often) - not happy to leave the system on and running when we are not here.
Thanks for all your work over the last year or more on outlines - the one for PHNL is spot on!
Mahola
Roger
-
Glad to be of service, Roger.
We're grateful for whatever returns you can send us!
Enjoy your holiday!
EDIT
That was scary - just watched two aircraft land simultaneously on intersecting runways at PHNL - it didn't help that the A330 showed an accurate position, but the B767 obviously only has INS, and appeared to be landing on top of the Airbus. I worked up quite a sweat!
Time for a red wine :-)
Mahola
Rod
-
Rod,
If you want scary, you should see them do it for real!
Even better is when they use the two parallel NE-SW runways simultaneously, one for take offs and one for landings - in opposite directions!!! (To be fair, they let one land before clearing the next departure).
I have to say, I'm even more gob-smacked by the ANRB system to think that you on the opposite side of the world are watching what I'm watching.
Roger
-
... there are returns from the Black Sea cost of Bulgaria at the moment.
EDIT - the box looks as if it might be in central Bulgaria.
Rod
You can see my RB in Bucharest, Romania. It is online 24/7.
And there is another one near Bucharest, but this one is not operated 24/7.
I didn't notice any RB in Bulgaria.
Liviu
-
Hi shouriken - I've never noticed your aircraft flying over the Black Sea - could that have been your RadarBox? I was wondering if it was a visitor to that region. I've never seen any there since the day I reported it.
Thanks for your network sharing from Romania - we appreciate it :-)
Rod
-
Returns from the ground at Beirut Airport at the moment.
Rod
-
Angola is now online! - returns are coming in centred on Luanda.
Rod
-
One of Angola's new private carriers has acquired AirNav Systems Professional ADS-B solutions for automatic fleet monitoring.
So we can confirm that Luanda will be online from 9 AM to 5 PM every weekday.
Starting December Luanda sharing will be H24.
-
I remember you mentioning it some time ago, Dev. Good to see it happening!
Rod
-
Returns are coming in from the Dallas area.
Rod
-
Just seen a new station in Constanta, Romania on the Black Sea coast
Liviu
-
Ah - that must be the one that I saw the returns from before.
We must remember that the AirNav map is notoriously inaccurate, but when it confirms what we already suspect, it's possibly correct!
Now, if we could just get a RadarBox in Serbia to fill that gap...
Rod
-
Now, if we could just get a RadarBox in Serbia to fill that gap...
It seems that a Serbian station is online right now.
I've already seen it on week-ends.
Liviu
-
There may be a new box in southern Arizona - Phoenix area? We're getting returns from round there, including from the northern Gulf of California which I've never seen before.
Rod
-
I am watching a SQ flight from SIN-JNB which is currently between Reunion Island and Madagascar. I am not sure that we have had flights in this area before.
Cheers
Mark
-
Hi Mark - yes, I've been watching ever since your post, and the RB seems to be on the west side of Réunion. It has good range to the west, but overflights disappear soon after passing the island eastwards.
Rod
-
As RNAGG has pointed out on the Screenshot forum, Brasilia is now online.
Rod
-
Currently getting returns from Dallas, Texas, and Jacksonville, Florida.
Rod
-
There's a box active in Jeddah, or somewhere else in the central Red Sea area.
Rod
-
I would like to see the Eastern Caribbean covered. There seems though to be a station in Venezuela and possibly another in or near Panama.
-
Roland - we occasionally get returns from around Martinique, and every now and then from the Dominican Republic.
The "Venezuelan" one in the Caribbean is, I think, actually based in Curacao.
Rod
-
We're getting returns from the Miami area at the moment - haven't seen anything there for a long while.
Rod
-

Rod
I wish that they would use some sensible Flight ID's rather than just numbers.
-
Just seen a new station in Constanta, Romania on the Black Sea coast
Liviu
Possibly the source of my first (Network) viewing of an Airbus A380?
Just wondering why I never see an A380 in MyFlights when even my paltry indoor antenna gives a polar diagram covering a large percentage of Central England...
-
The station in Constanta is not active anymore.
You have seen mine or vic_atc's. We are both located in Bucharest.
Liviu
-
Just wondering why I never see an A380 in MyFlights when even my paltry indoor antenna gives a polar diagram covering a large percentage of Central England...
I follow the A380's and have them set up in my Fleet Watch - they are out there :-)
You might be picking them up, but if your database isn't populated with their details, then you might not know. Do a search in MyFlights to see what you get if you enter any of these registrations:

Thanks for that, Allocator.
Will have a play tonight. If I have any success, (or failure) or further question on this subject, I will start a new thread - rather than steering this thread away from its proper subject of Unusual Network locations... (sorry!)
Cheers
Chris
-
Shame we haven't seen any more from Miami - that was great coverage of a busy area.
Rod
Only just spotted this thread, that was me sharing from Miami in July, I was only there for two days :-( but yes got great view of the Bahamas from high up on an ocean front hotel near Fort Lauderdale.
-
Get back there immediately!
:-)
Rod
-
I don't think theres anyone with a RB in Tasmania yet. That would be good.
-
There is one: http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=3774.msg37862#msg37862 (http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=3774.msg37862#msg37862)
Not sure how often he shares on the network, though.

Superb ground-level returns from Hong Kong at the moment.

We are checking it. Amazing. For who want to check type VHHH on the Locate box.

Rod
hi rod.
just watching it myself. must download the runway as there in the sea lol
from pat
-
Wouldn't it be nice if it really was in the sea, and they were Imperial Airways Short Empire flying boats?
Ahhhh...
Rod
-
The new Hong Kong airport is in reclaimed ocean, so perhaps you have an old map.
-
The outlines (for the airport and the island) need to be downloaded - they're not in the standard install package - Allocator's website has them all, or you can just find the Hong Kong outlines in the Outlines thread.
Rod
-
I was there in Hong Kong sharing last week and hope to be in Tokyo sharing for some of next week, so my Sydney feed will be down while I am away.
Cheers

Just noticed there is a RB active in Tassie. Looks like he's located around the Launceston area.

Hi I am in Burnie
Mike
G'day Mike,
I am in Melbourne (Narre Warren) almost under the NARRE fix :)
I have a lousy spot for my antenna and I'm lucky to get Melbourne and Port Phillip Bay covered.
Must get a better antenna.
Cheers,
Paul.
-
Gday Paul, I have good coverage across to almost Melbourne, Are you networking or is there another around Melb airport?
Go to http://tech-software.net/1090_ant_02.JPG and build this antenna, its what I use and I get up to NSW border
Mike
-
Hi Mike,
Not me, I am networking but my coverage is very poor. I think there are a couple of other users here in Melbourne.
With yourself on board, we cover the gap nicely.
Thanks for that link. I'll check that out.
Cheers,
Paul.
-
We're getting returns from the north-eastern coast of Brazil, in the area of Macaió (SBMO) - first time I've noticed them from round there. Wonder what happened to our Fortaleza correspondent...
Rod
-
Cape Town is currently online - long time since I saw returns from there.
Rod
-
Sure would be nice if KLAX came back on-line.
Paul@cyyb

After a long absence, I'ts good to seee that Fortaleza, (NE corner of Brazil) is back online.

Juan,
Thanks for that and also the direct link to SBGR and SBSP. I hadn't really noticed the area before but as the weather here in Scotland was bad and things were quiet with it being Christmas Day, I thought I would have a look elsewhere whilst my wife was preparing the Christmas Dinner. Hope you had a good Christmas and have a Happy New Year.
Cheers,
Ian
-
Hi Ian
Also durim almost one year (march 2008 - march 2009) I left a RB + Ubox in Buenos Aires... and accessed it remotely from Sao Paulo...
But due to the world´s worst broadband service from Telefonica there...
as it was almost always down... I brought RB back again to Sao Paulo.
I intend to take RB to Buenos Aires in march month... for vacations... but do not worth to let it there due to very few flights and very poor internet connection.
Best regards and happy 2010

Returns coming in from the Houston area - is this Peresozo?
Rod
-
Returns from the Palm Beach area of Florida coming in now - extending out to Grand Bahama.
Rod
-
I have just watched the KLM MD11 touch down at Bonaire - received signal right down to the ground, so presume someone has a received close by. I will be traveling to the US in a few days time so will feed when I can while I am there. Also should have a feed at SXM from 23-26 Jan, so not sure if that will be a first.
Cheers
Mark
-
Hi Peolpe,
Returns from Rio de Janeiro - Brazil, just now !
Cheers
-
would be nice to have to have one in the Azores to keep the flight connection between Europe and the Americas
-
We do have a regular in the Azores - online as I type this!
Rod
-
Yep, see him now ..thanks ...hope he has good coverage ..will be watching to see his maximum range
-
Getting a return from Christchurch, New Zealand now. Never seen anything from South Island before. The most southerly RadarBox ever?
Rod
-
Good to see that we're getting returns from Athens International after a long break.
Rod
-
Today I noted returns around Bangkok airport. I've never noted that before - seems to have gone now. Wonder if it will be back.
-
I've just spotted a brief return from around Kota Kinabalu, north of Brunei - is this ACW367 with his RadarBox on his promised visit?
Rod
-
Hi to all
I am currently at JFK and will have direct view of airport so a/c on the ground. Hopefully will be transmitting for 3 days from SXM from tomorrow.
Cheers
Mark
-
Excellent! Picking you up right now - and looking forward to St Maarten :-) I imagine you are, too.
Thanks for sharing that - and thanks for sharing!
EDIT - Your returns froom JFK are excellent - you've got a really good view there!
Rod
-
No Kota Kinabalu isn't me. I head off in the 1st week of April. Can't wait.
-
We're now getting great ground returns from Mark at Princess Juliana - nice one!
Rod
-
Hi Rod
Unfortunately where I have access to the internet doesn't give great range, but hopefully you are enjoying a few of the arrs/deps.
Cheers from sunny SXM

Just watched a USAirways 767 landing in the sea beside the airport - I hope the real landing was a bit more accurate than his ADS-B transmissions!
Enjoy your stay - I'm enjoying it :-)
Rod

Thanks Rod. The Air France A340 departure was fantastic. Looking forwar to hopefully seeing Corse Air B747 and KLM tomorrow.
Cheers

Looks like there's a user in the Calgary area of Alberta, Canada. Not seen returns from there before.

Rod
That would be me! I'm about 30 miles SW of Calgary in the Rocky Mountain foothills and received my RadarBox just last week. All I have right now is the antenna that comes with the box, sitting in my windowsill with a SW view. There's a significant amount of domestic and international flights that cross directly over my house, and I am seeing about 75nm to the south and west. Eventually, I plan to pick up a DPD antenna and put it on my roof - with luck, I should see in all directions a much greater distance then.
-
Hi Jay911 and welcome to the forum. It's great that you are able to cover a new area for us.
Any questions - just ask!
Rod
-
Is it just me being unobservant, or is this the first time that we've been getting returns from the ground at Salt Lake City (KSLC)? Nice to see, anyway.
Rod
-
Currently receiving network data from Angola - is this a new location?
-
Nah - we've had Luanda online (9-5 every day - or weekday - can't remember) for some time now (I do think the TAAG livery is smart.) AirNav told us that the company running it might be going to 24-hour coverage sometime in the future.
Rod
-
Thanks Rod - nice to see it all the same!
Dave
-
Hi Rod
I am transmitting from SDQ (Santo Domingo) for the next 3 hrs or so. I will then be back at JFK tonight before returning to Sydney tomorrow.
Cheers

Nice to see returns coming from CYWG Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada

Istanbul is back again after a long break - wonder how long it will last...
Rod
-
We're getting returns from the west/north of New Zealand South Island at the moment - see the Screenshots Forum.
Rod

Another new location - I'm watching a Lion Air plane leaving WAAA - Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Rod

Hello All.
On holiday for a week in Tunisia. Flying to Monastir (DTMB) on Sunday. Staying about 15mins away from the airport. The box will be on as much as possible for airport and ott flights whilst drink a few beers!!!.
I have found the airport website and have an idea of local traffic, just wondering if anyone knows what ott traffic can be seen. Not much coverage on RB in that part of the world.
Steve.
-
Hi Steve - have a great holiday - we'll be looking out for you.
Rod
-
Nice to see RB is getting recognised for the great tool it is and were getting some interesting locations now, hoping to take mine to India next month.
-
That's good news, johnboy - we used to have a regular RadarBox in Mumbai, but haven't seen him for many months now. India is very under-reported at the moment - hope you can share while you're there!
Rod
-
It's great to see returns from Shanghai again after a gap of many months.
Rod
-
And now Chongqing (ZUCK) is back again - haven't seen returns from there for a long time.
Rod
-
Returns are coming in from Phoenix, Arizona - don't remember seeing any from there before.
Rod

The number of US users is growing week after week.

Rod
Re returns from Mumbai. I left India in Sept 09 and am currently set-up in Abu Dhabi where I have very good coverage of traffic in and out of AUH.
Steve
-
I will be in Cairo coming Tuesday through Friday and will take my RB with me. Probably won't leave it out during the day time while I am out working, but late afternoons through until early morning will have it out.
-
Thanks for that, chaps - I've been missing the returns from Mumbai, but the middle east coverage is coming on nicely these days, and will will be nice to see Cairo on the network again.
Rod
-
I see we're getting returns from Vilnius, Lithuania, and there are a couple of pins in the map in Poland. the Eastern Europe/western Russia area is getting great coverage today.
Rod
-
It's great to see coverage around PANC as well. North America is starting to fill up.
Paul@cyyb

Paul@cyyb
Hi prbflight.
Yes at night when nothing is happening locally i like to go to other parts of the world,
its one of the great things about having the airnav box.
all the best from pat.
-
There are returns from the Murchison area of Western Australia at the moment - another new one for us - wonder what happened to Perth - haven't seen anything from there for months :-(
Rod
-
We're getting very good returns from Fukuoka (RJFF) at the moment.
Rod
-
Returns coming in from the Durban area (FADN) - haven't seen that part of the world on RB before.
Rod
-
I'm not certain that they are genuine, but there ae a couple of returns coming from the Volgograd (URWW) area of southern Russia.
Rod
-
I originally planned to put a radarbox online in Nairobi. Change of location.
I'm in Hanoi now, VVNB. I've only been online briefly, as my house isn't ideal for a permanent installation, nearby building are obstructing reception. Yet from the 20th floor of one of these obstructions I got a perfectly clear reception all the way down to the runway, so maybe I've found my antenna mast. When I have more time I'll try to convince someone to let me set up an antenna and an ultralight laptop somewhere on a rooftop, get a weatherproof case for the laptop and radarbox, and go online with a 3g usb modem. This might take some time though, I'll also need to get a weatherproof aerial and a short cable lead shipped first. In the meantime, I wont be online much (feel free to send me a message if there's anything specific you'd like me to track though).
-
PH-BVB just took off towards EHAM for another test flight. Yesterday's testflight was quite satisfying. No damage was reported to the PH-BGB.
Regards, Frank
-
Hi Typist
Looking forward to seeing your returns on the network - hope your setup goes well!
Rod
-
we're getting great returns from the Houston area tonight, extending out into the Gulf of Mexico - nice!
Rod
-
HI ROD
SINCE LAST WEEK, I HAVE INSTALLED ONE OF MY RADAR BOX IN CANCUN, TO HAVE BETTER COVERAGE OF THE YUCATAN PENINSULA. NOW THERE ARE 2 RADAR BOX OPERATING 24 HOURS IN MERIDA AND CANCUN, COVERING PART OF THE CARIBBEAN AND GULF OF MEXICO.
GREETINGS TO ALL.
-
Hi Rodolfo
I did wonder if there was a new box there - I have noticed the much better coverage to the east of the peninsula.
It's great to have you on the network - thanks for sharing!
Rod
-
My friend is a real pleasure.
Greetings from the White City of Mérida, Yucatán.
-
So - are both of the RadarBoxes on the peninsular yours?
Rod
-
Yes my friend, both are my. One is in Merida and another is in Cancun.
-
I will soon be covering the Detroit area. Not that unusual but there doesn't seem to be very coverage there.
-

Great news! It's nice to see more and more coverage in North America. Many of the aircraft I spot from my deck are on their way to KDTW.

Paul@cyyb
I am in the D.C. area now. There seems to be decent coverage here. When I'm back in the Detroit area its possible that I could be the first Radarbox there or at least among the very few. I get to London quite a bit and would buy Radio User magazine. That is where I discovered the Radarbox.
-
Hi Rod
I am currently feeding intermittently from Bintan (near Singapore) whilst on holiday.
However I am getting many more aircraft tracking on Plane Plotter than on Air Nav.
The PP feed is from my Air Nav so not sure why this is happening. I have noticed before that Ainav takes longer to start tracking aircraft than my Basestation does and it loses them more quickly as well. Have not noticed this before with PP, but those who have PP will see a better feed from me than on Air Nav.
Cheers
Mark
-
Hi Mark
Thanks for cheching in - I seem to remember that ther have been reported problems with RadarBox reception around the Singapore area before.
No idea why that should be.
Have a good holiday!
Rod
-
Thanks for cheching in - I seem to remember that ther have been reported problems with RadarBox reception around the Singapore area before.
No idea why that should be.
I would agree, there doesn't seem to be any logical reason. The only possibility that springs to mind it that perhaps Singapore being very close to the Equator might have something to do with it ?
I've currently got nearly 1500 aircraft showing on the network, but none at all on or near the Equator. Of course that may simply be a result of there not being any sharers in northern Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Kenya, Indonesia, etc, but on the other hand it might be worth investigating.
-
Nice to see returns from the ground at Las Vegas - that's a first for me.
And we're getting returns again from the ground at Miami International.
Rod
-
Here's a new one - returns from Lagos, Nigeria - DNMM
Rod
-
We seem to have a roving West Africa correspondent at the moment - returns are coming in from the ground at Dakar, Senegal - GOOY.
Rod
-
Istanbul's back at the moment.
Rod
-
We're getting returns from Port Elizabeth, South Africa - FAPE.
Is this Radarman with his new box?
Rod

-
G'day all,
I am a new user in Perth WA. Currently online between 0600 and 2100. Hopefully by the weekend I'll be online 24/7.
Steve.
-
Hi woop - and welcome to the forum!
There's at learst one other user around Perth - but it's certainly not 24/7 - looking forward to seeing your returns.
Rod
-
There's a genuine-looking return coming in from the extreme north of Norway - around ENBV - surely our most northerly location ever?
Rod
-
Returns are coming from the south of Taiwan - I've only seen Taiwan returns from the north before.
Rod
-
That would be me
We're getting returns from Port Elizabeth, South Africa - FAPE.
Is this Radarman with his new box?
Rod
-
Hi Chris - it's good to see your input to the network. We're seeing a steady flow of ADS-B equipped aircraft there, so I guess it's quite a busy airport.
Rod
-
We're getting a new location in Brazil - I've been watching aircraft on the ground at Afonso Pena International Airport, at São José dos Pinhais, south-west of Sao Paulo. Let's hope it's another permanent fixture.
Rod
-
Lagos is back again.
Rod
-
Hi Rod
What happened to the signal from Miami? Now I see only the northern part of Florida.
Best regards.
-
I wish I knew! I'm missing the Miami returns too.
Rod
-
Returns are coming in from central Taiwan and southern Japan.
Rod
-
We are still getting returns from Taiwan at the moment.
AirNav - I remember you saying some time ago that sales in China were progressing well. We're getting nothing from China these days (except for some Hong Kong coverage). Beijing and Shanghai used to be regulars - do you know what's happened there? The Chinese government isn't blocking RadarBox data, is it?
Rod
-
I use the RadarBox on the southside of Chicago. Im not online all the time, but at least once or twice a day.
Ben
-
It's good to see your returns on the network, Ben.
Do you ever get any ADS-B planes flying from Midway?
Rod
-
Only TRS 737-700. And every once and awhile a GA aircraft. Most flights are from ORD, at cruise.
-
Ah well, by 2020 all your traffic should be ADS-B :-)
Rod
-
Returns are coming in from north of Novosibirsk (UNNT) at the moment.
Rod
-
Mornin Rod,have been to Bali for 3 weeks hols. Got the box on and I have lost the curser,it is there when running over the list of aircraft but when I move it nto the map it disappears, any ideas please on this??? Colin.
-
Lucky you! I remember reading somewhere on the forum about someone with the same missing (or probably black) map cursor. Can't remember the solution, though.
If the cursor has turned black, one workround might be to change the map colours to white!
Can't see any network returns from Bali at the moment, or are you now back home?
Rod
-
Will be in Casablanca on business for a couple of days next week and will take my box with me. See if anything interesting crops up.....
-
Excellent - we'll watch out for you!
Rod
-
Sorry Rod back in UK.Was not aloud to take the box with me the Bali airport is military as well and most of the flights were Garuda and not a lot of anything else. There was a A380 from Emirates flew over which was on way back to Dubai from Aissie but hardly anything else. The curser was on the list but when you move it on to the map there is nothing!! Colin.
-
Ah well, never mind!
A bit mysterious about your map pointer, though. Have you tried making the map white, or very light-coloured to see if you can see the pointer then, or does it just not show at all?
Rod
-
It just disappears all together once the pointer is put on the map???
-
Colin - I just found this link - it may help.
http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=164.msg926#msg926
Rod
-
Not an unusual location but I'm down from the D.C. area spending the night in Fort Lauderdale. I'm going to have the RadarBox up for awhile.
-
Ah - it's you eh? I've been watching your returns from south Florida this evening. Is it you getting returns from the east Florida coast - Tampa area as well?
Unfortunately the Ft Lauderdale/Miami/Keys area is more unusual than we would like!
Many thanks for sharing.
Rod
-
Another US area we're getting at the moment is Boston, Mass. We could do with a more permanent presence there, too!
Rod
-
We are growing a lot in the US market so expect more and more users to join in the next few months.
-
Great coverage of Sicily at the moment - don't know if our Malta correspondent has improved his coverage or whether there's a new box there - if so, it's not showing on the locations map.
Rod
-
CoastGuardJon has pointed out in another thread that we're getting returns from the Maldives at the moment - they seem to be centred on Malé.
Long may they continue!
Rod
-
Returns from Anchorage are coming in at the moment.
Rod
-
Not an unusual location but just wondered who currently has a box on at Doha. My AN is showing A6-EID an Airbus A319 currently sitting on the ground at this location.
-
Returns are coming in from Manila at the moment.
Rod
-
Currently picking up 3 aircraft on the ground at Corfu. 2 belonging to THY and 1 to Atlasjet. Someone on holiday with their ANRB ?
Edit:
They are actually on the ground at Ataturk not Corfu and have just been joined by SU-GDE of Egyptair !
-
We've been getting returns from Istanbul for a few weeks now, but I've never seen the ground returns being as good as they are at the moment.
Rod
-
Hi People.
Returns from LJLJ at this time
-
Returns are coming in from the Bay of Fundy area - Nova Scotia/New Brunswick.
Rod
-
Just as an experiment, I took the 230 real-time network locations from the page source of http://www.airnavsystems.com/RadarBox/network2.php and fed these into http://www.batchgeo.com/
Gives the following map, with some interesting network locations
http://www.batchgeo.com/map/96b0c6837ec7beacc796ec1d407af003
You can also import the attached KML file into Radarbox 3D.
-
Would be good to see more in central Russia to track the Asia flights going to and fro.
AirNav - ever thought of giving away a few free boxes to people in remote locations so that you have total world coverage?
-
Does Exmoor count? ;-)
-
Manila counts - and it's back again now.
Rod
-
A new location, for me, anyway - returns from around Regina International, Saskatchewan (CYQR).
Rod
-
Currently getting ground reports from Tokyo Narita.
Ian
-
I just saw a few network hits from the Calgary area. One acft (a Westjet flight, 103 I think) was directly on the rwy 28 heading after departure, and another aircraft on the middle leg of an international flight appeared to be on the downwind leg for an approach to 34. Even though I have moved my setup 2 stories higher (but still with the antenna inside the house), I still can't receive actual traffic from CYYC. Is the new contestant on here somewhere?
-
Here's an unusual one - returns at the moment from deep inside Iran - the Payam area (OIIP)
Rod
-
Returns from Muscat are coming in - I've never noticed them before.
Rod
-
Widespread returns are coming in from "central" Russia at the moment - a rather empty area, but roughly around UNEE - very interesting.
Rod
-
Rod that is pretty cool. Glad that part of the world has some coverage now. Always good for me to monitor the Japan flights
-
First time I have noticed it, there are returns coming in from Beijing
-
Yes - we used to get regular returns from Beijing, and the Shanghai area used to be good too, along with mainland China near Hong Kong. At the time, AirNav said that sales in China were going well, but it's all gone very quiet recently.
Let's hope this is the start of a reappearance of China in RadarBox - they've certainly got enough ADS-B aircraft to keep us happy. I hope the RadarBox users aren't being blocked by the Great Firewall of China!
Rod
-
Reports tonight from around Timimoun, Algeria. TC-SKE B737 of Sky Airlines.
-
5H -PAZ currently showing over Tanzania
-
Hi All
New to this just got RadarBox here at Lizard in Cornwall...often look at Florida USA and not seen any flights..has anyone else seen anything in Florida or am i doing something wrong
Graham
-
Hi Graham and welcome to the forum.
Assuming you're getting any returns at all from the network, there's probably nothing that you're doing wrong - we just don't often get good returns from Florida. We used to get good info from the Orlando area, and often from around Tampa - occasionally very good returns from Miami.
But it all seems a bit patchy round there these days.
Rod
-
Reports coming in from the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico centred around Cancun.
-
Hi Rod
Back In June/July it was myself sending Info From Manila I travel around that area of the world quite a bit(family working there) so will always try and use the box as much as possible.
Regards

Hi Stu and welcome - sorry for the delay - been at Oshkosh!
It;'s always good to get returns from the more unusual (for RadarBox) parts of the world - so looking forward to more from you!
Rod
-
Getting returns from the Tianjin Binhai (ZBTJ) area of China.
Rod
-
Hi Rod
I am currently sharing from Bali - close to Denpasar (WRRR). Not great reception but late approach and overflights.
Cheers
Mark
-
Hi Mark
Picking up an overflight now :-)
Thanks for sharing!
Rod
-
Townsville, Queensland, Australia is online at the moment - haven't seen returns from there before.
Rod
-
Perhaps he can pick this one up, showing on mine!
-
currently in Hong Kong - will share when laptop on (approx 10am to 4pm UK times)
-
Thanks Paul - getting good returns from Hong Kong now - the Asian Pacific Rim is getting pretty good now - Hanoi, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan all showing up at the moment!
We just need more from mainland China.
Rod
-
It's a metter of time until we have all these regions covered.
-
Sightings currently coming in from the Beijing area !
-
I'm in bangkok regularly, I have a condo there, I can place an antenna on the 35th (top) floor, terrain is flat, good reception in all directions...I would love to cover BKK, after all it's a major international hub, I only need an inexpensive radarbox...I'll keep looking on ebay :)
-

Your reply was so obvious!
If you can afford a condo in Bangkok, you can afford a radarbox.
-
well I have one. just not in bangkok. spending a lot of money on further radarboxes is not my priority at the moment. after all a condo is probably a better financial investment than a radarbox...
-
Returns are coming in from Mexico City - and about time too ;-)
Rod
-
I too have a Condo in Thailand, which I use when I get out to Thailand, my Condo is on the 5th floor of 18 and is 90km South of Suvarnabhumi Airport [BKK] but unfortunately has a big hill just to north of me so masking a lot of BKK area, also if I could put up a aerial on the roof, 50m of good coax would be expensive and lossy.
I have been thinking that a Ethernet version of the RadarBox could be very useful as it could be left unattended without needing a PC attached, also could be mounted in weather proof box on the aerial mast saving on the expense/loss of coax feeder and computer interference, one thing to bare in mind is that many tall buildings are used commercially as transmitter platforms and you could suffer from heavy interference, may need some big bandpass filtering.
-
yep. covering bangkok would be tempting, wouldnt it. as for ethernet vs coax - ethernet is cheaper and better, if you have radarbox in a weatherproof box. you can use something like this piece of hardware
http://www.google.com/products?client=safari&rls=en&q=winstar+m4&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wf
works for me. 5v dc power needed though.
-
Nice to see Mumbai (VABB) back online.
Rod
-
Returns coming in from the Baiyun Area (ZGGG). Long time since we've had them.
Rod
-
This is a first - returns coming in from the Shimla region of northern India (VISM).
Rod
-
Getting good returns fom Jakarta, Indonesta - VIII
I do hope it's a new box there.
Rod
-
Rod,
Reports coming in from Java tonight. Possibly the same box that is covering Jakarta ?
Ian
Edit: Just homed in closely on that. It is, in fact, Jakarta as you stated above. Very interesting.
-
Returns are coming in from Las Vegas at the moment - not seen that location before.
Rod
-
Reports coming in from the areas of Tel Aviv and Beirut.
-
Good to see returns from Bangkok again - it's been a long time...
EDIT - and Brunei :-)
Rod
-
Returns are coming in from Las Vegas at the moment - not seen that location before.
Rod
That was me, I'd say that only 10% of commercial aircraft in that area have ADSB, slightly more than the last time I was there two years ago. :-(
Picked up a E-6 Mercury (with ADSB) taking off from Nellis AFB which was cool. :-)
-
Hi! Shame you didn't leave your RadarBox there ;-)
Thanks for sharing.
Rod

Seoul has popped up again.

Lulea, Sweden is online- new one to me.

Reports currently coming in from Kuala Lumpur.
Unless you noticed something different, Ian, the returns I'm seeing from around there seem to be coming from the east of the peninsular, north of Singapore. Nothing south of 2 degrees north, though, so the Equator bug seems to be still with us.
Rod
-
I'm Oman right now, its peak time here 2330L through until around 0200L. (+4 GMT)
Will leave box on overnight and tomorrow night too.
Dave
-
Further to this, I'm the wrong side of the hotel so not picking up much from Seeb airport even though I can here the aircraft on the ground!
Picking up quite a few overflights though...
-
Frustration levels......?
-
The Taiwan area is particularly busy today, along with Hong Kong/Baiyun.
Rod
-
Just saw on the network an aircraft departing VGZR Shah Jalal Intl in Dhaka, Bangladesh at 0345 GMT. Even better because it was an A319 of Druk Air Bhutan.
-
Reports currently coming in from Kuala Lumpur.

Intermittent reports currently being received from Bombay.
-
LYBE (Belgrade, Serbia) on air for last 4 days... busy as usual, upon upgrade of location 200 NM coverage to be expected... tarmac included

I've seen the pin in the map before, but now I've actually got a return on the network from the Punjab, India, around the VICG area.
Rod

Hi Guys;
Im a newbie here with my Airnav as a Xmas present although I have owned an SBS for a number of years but that is a permanent fixture in my loft and does not travel. However, the Airnav was acquired for the sole purpose of taking it with me on my travels as I am a loadmaster and regularly get to rather obscure places in Africa, Asia etc. So, as internet conx is now a mandatory requirement with my company when in hotels, I will attempt to upload the Airnav whenever I am able! regards clive.
-
Great news, Clive - do keep us posted as to your locations - it will be great if you could update this thread as you start a session.
It's interesting to know who WAS where, but we can't spend all our time scanning the world map - so an early heads-up will help us notice your returns from unusual places. Good airport views much appreciated :-)
And happy new year!
PS It will also be a DHLight TNT see whether we can guess your airline from all your UPS and downs.
I could MegaArk you FedExpressly, but I won't be Ruslan into such CargLuxury.
Don't worry - I'll stick to logos in future.
Rod
-
Clive
If you are able to provide logs and tie-ups from those unusual places to us in the Updaters team as well. It would be very useful especially considering some of the locations you get to are not accessible to the average man.
PS I have had your Flickr photostream on my favourites, and have been watching it the last 4 months or so. Found it when searching for an airline operator for a rare IL-76 I was updating and am now hooked by your travels.
Regards
ACW367
-
Well thank you sir!!
I have been rahter quiet on the travel front in the last 6 months or so but I have changed airline and things are about to pick up so hopefully lots more photo's and logs to come :)

Returns coming in from around the Sinai peninsular. No sign of a related pin on the Network Locations Map, though.
Rod

Ft Lauderdale, Florida, is back again after a long absence.
Rod

Returns from Siberia - the Kemerovo (UNEE) area.
Rod

Carlo Ancelotti must have taken a RB with him !

[quoteGreat news, Clive - do keep us posted as to your locations - it will be great if you could update this thread as you start a session.][/quote]
I can only offer OST at the moment :(
-
Never mind, Clive, Ostend is good too!
Rod
-
Information currently coming in from Kuwait.
-
Reports from the ground at Bilbao LEBB at the moment.
Rod
-
We often get returns around individual islands in the Canaries or Madeira, but I've never seen returns from the area between the Canaries and Medeira. There must be a box with a good view of the area - hope it stays there.
Rod
-
Reports currently coming in from the ground at Mahe in the Maldives. Who's the lucky one there on holiday ?
-
Excellent! I first reported returns from round there in June last year, and I seem to remember Dev telling us that an operator there was trying out a RadarBox for professional purposes.
So it could be a holidaymaker, or maybe more permanent than that. We'll see.
Rod
-
It's good to see Brisbane on the network again. Let's hope things are getting back to normal round there.
Rod
-
Briefly this evening, a return from Islamabad.
-
After what seems like a long absence, Christchurch, NZ is back - long may it continue.
Rod
-
For the forseeable future, you will get good returns from me as I am curently based in Luxembourg. Hardly exotic I know but hey! On the 16th floor of the Hilton looking towards the airport but unfortunately there is a hill in the way and stops any ground movements. I will have it running whenever I am not flying, so for the next three days in a row....
-
Thanks for that, Clive.
How was Libreville? Must admit I didn't notice any network returns from there.
Rod
-
Unfortunately no internet access and I was only in the hotel for 6 hours. I ran the airnav for about 2.5 hours anf only managed 24 returns in the aircraft list and none on the radar!
But....the pics more than made up for that!!
-
Cool, if you are able to identify tie-ups from your travels (or even snippets of what they are likely to be) when you are in that area, keep us in the updating team informed.
-
I see Anchorage is back again.
Rod
-
Yes been picking up a number of new aircraft to the database from there.
Alan
-
Just spotted on the network, LN-KKR of Norwegian Air Shuttle sitting on the ground at Tromso. My sympathies to whoever is up there. It must be chilly to say the least !

After what seems like a long absence, Christchurch, NZ is back - long may it continue.
Rod
Have not seen any returns from there since the quake. Lets all hope our sharer and his property are all OK. Thoughts are with all in that city at the moment.

Reports tonight from Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv.

Hi,
I am planning to keep feeding info to the network from Buenos Aires and Mendoza from today until 10.MAR...
Stay tuned ;)

Bangkok is back again.
Rod

There seems to be a new RadarBox to the north of Baiyun, China - never seen this level of returns from there before.
Rod
-
Shanghai is showing good returns this evening, and I've never seen Brunei busier.
Rod
-
Now getting network returns from the central heartland of Russia. Over the last couple of days have seen aircraft on the Europe/Moscow to far east routes in this region.
-
ACW367, how did you apply weather layer on 2D map?
Thanks, Nick
-
Thats not weather thats mountain colours. I have adapted the colours to suit my wants. Terrain goes from Black through greyshades to white for the highest levels. See the attached.
-
ACW - there's an old thread designed for the posting of MCL files so that we can share colour schemes - you might like to post yours here: http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=1159.0

More returns from unusual Russian locations - at the moment around Tolmachevo, UNNT
Rod

There seems to be a new RadarBox to the north of Baiyun, China - never seen this level of returns from there before.
Rod
Thats mine. I am based at HK Airport...been offline for a while while I try to get it all to work. Once it is fully set up (Not there yet). I plan to have it running 24/7.
-
Excellent - you must have a great view of the area. Looking forward to your coverage, Colin.
Rod
-
As part of the record number of aircraft on the network the mid-Russian UNNT area is busy at the moment.
Rod
-
Further to the last post, I'm watching a Globus B734 on finals for Tomsk - UNTT now, which pins the RadarBox down to that area. RadarBox knows the airport as Z25P.
EDIT Now watching it taxying there.
Rod
-
Returns are coming in from New Brunswick, Canada, further north-east than I've ever seen before, and with lots of evening flights from North America to Europe.
Rod
-
Could someone help me to know who is the user in the area of Dominican Republic or Netherlands Antilles?
-
Currently picking up returns from near to Tolmachevo (UNNT) in Central Russia. Quite a bit of activity at this time.

Nice to see Seoul Incheon back again.

Hi Rod
That was me ;-)
'Fraid I've been and gone and am now in Hong Kong for 24 hours before going home.
-
Many thanks - it was great while it lasted :-)
Rod
-
Here's a first - a return from Khartoum, Sudan - HSSS.
Rod
-
A welcome return: Santiago SCEL is online at the moment.
Rod
-
While our Tolmachevo (UNNT) returns seem to have become prteey much a permanent feature (famous last words), I'm seeing returns further to the north of there - not near any identifyable airports, showing direct Europe-Japan flights.
And we're still getting Phuket, Khartoum, and Santiago returns coming in, and Luanda is still around too. Fascinating stuff.
Rod
-
There is an Airnav log from Khartoum on the SBS-forum most days
Alan
-
I'm too busy touring the map in RadarBox to look at other forums (fora?) ;-)
I think I've pinned the new Siberian returns to a place called Novy Urengoy whose airport, USMU, isn't known to RadarBox.
Rod
-
But I bet an out line will be along soon. ;-)
-
It won't be for a while - my big screen is off for repair today, so I'm using a little TV screen instead - it's no use for decent graphics work :-( I've got a backlog building up!
Rod
-
Strong returns from the Azores at the moment. Seems to be around Ponta Delgada.

Returns coming in from Venezuala and from Cancun which appears to have been off the air for at least a few days.

There's a return coming from the ground at Gibraltar LXGB at the moment. New for me.
Rod
-
They could inform me as they receive the signal of Cancun and Mérida, that I have had problems with the network these days.
Tks.
-
Hello Rodolfo
Yes we are picking your returns up well. I saw a lot of activity around Cancun earlier, including some ground returns.
It's quiet at the moment, though.
Thanks for sharing!
Rod
-
Rod,
Someone is on in Moscow today. Seeing activity at both UUEE and UUDD. Used the 4 letter codes as to complicated to spell.
Cheers,
I know this quote was two years ago, but that was my box. Only started on Forum two days ago.
X
Ian
-
Excellent - and thanks for sharing, X
Rod
-
Rod
Normally DXB based but travel a bit e.g. Moscow, Kiev, Bucharest, Sofia and Jeddah so you might also have picked up some of these over the last three and half years.
Early this year due to new computer with windows 7 I have had hardware/network jamming issues and had to minimise use of network but Runway 31 seems to have helped me overcome this issue so will be on network when and where internet permits.
X
-
It's great to have a variety of locations - keeps us on our toes!
I hope to be sharing from Oshkosh next week :-)) I don't imagine there will be many ADS-B -equipped aircraft there, though.
Rod
-
Is it my imagination, or is there a new box somewhere in central Turkey, around LTAH?
There seems to be a concentration of returns which I haven't noticed before. I know our Antalya user has been getting good returns for a while now, but this seems more than we've had before.
Rod
-
This return certainly takes some doing! Hundreds of K's West of Australia. Must be an error, but how?
Phil
-
New user in Brasilia/DF.

HI FROM GREECE YOU WILL NOW HAVE PICTURE from LGZA LGRX LGKF

Welcome ATROPOS
Alan
-
Have I missed something? What's happened to our returns from Moscow and from Melbourne (and OZ in general).
We miss you guys!
Rod
-
I'm back up today, been away for a couple of days. Although, sadly still using my indoor aerial. There must be another RB user here in Perth, often see network flights toward RAAF Pearce
Phil
-
Thanks for that, Phil.
We currently have returns from Bangkok :-)
Rod
-
Welcome ATROPOS
Alan
Hello Alan!
-
What's happened to our returns from Moscow and from Melbourne (and OZ in general).
We miss you guys!
Rod
Just my short vacation, Rod. Moscow is back again in 24/7 mode.
I expect a some ADS-B activity around Zhukovsky/Ramenskoye airfield this week, MAKS 2011 Airshow starts today. We have A380 and Dreamliner on display.
Nick
-
Thanks for that, Nick. We usually get such good returns from Moscow that I assumed that you weren't the only RadarBox sharer in the area - you obviously have superb coverage.
I'll keep an eye on your returns for MAKS activity.
Rod
-
Noticed a nice increase in returns from Mauritius, sadly none from Bangkok last 48 hours.
Phil
-
Returns from Pulkovo at present. Also Bangkok is back on.
-
Currently lots of activity being picked up from Brazil centred on SBSP (Congonhas) and the neighbouring airport at SBGR (Guarulhos).
-
Currently looking at returns from Vancouver. First time I have seen this area on .

I have an issue with my new computer, that when I am on Network my hardware freezes after a short time and I lose all info so when in Moscow and Kiev during August I rarely used Network. Any ideas why this happens? I was advised to move all my ANRB stuff direct to the hard drive and avoid program files but that has not cured the problem.
X
-
Hi X - I'm afraid I'm no techie - I can only suggest you contact Support and see if they can help.
Rod
-
Rod
It was AirNav tech that advised to avoid program files and put direct onto Desktop but as I indicated that has not solved my issue. Will try again as it is very frustrating when I lose a days flights and info (updates etc) while on Network.
Thanks anyway
X
-
Hi X
Dont know what you mean by on the desktop. Install it somewhere like somewhere like C:Airnav and you shouldnt have any problems.
Alan
-
Hi Alan
I already have it on C Drive avoiding Program files as ARNB tech (or you) suggested, but I still have a problem when using network as it freezes my hardware and I lose all info and downloads. This week alone I have lost two nights info and updates.
I now go on Network twice per day, download and exit, shut computer down then reboot to avoid problems.
X
-
We're getting returns from around the Crimea (Ukraine, Black Sea coast) at the moment. Not seen them before.
Rod
-
Im in Sarasota this week and took the Radarbox with me and my asus eeepc, no questions at all from airport security in the uk or us which i was surprised at.
Im also using flight tracker{care of the management} and im amazed at the lack of adsb usage here in the states. Next saturday will be broadcasing from the Luxor in Vegas...............room service permitting
Bri
-
Excellent, Bri - we'll be watching out for you - have a good trip!
Rod
-
Bri - and anyone else visiting Vegas. Last year I stayed at the Luxor, and did this little outline of the hotel to help me orientate myself.
I'm also posting it in the outlines thread.
HTH
Rod

Nice to see Jeddah - OEJN back again, presumably just for a while during the Hajj.
Rod

Getting good returns from Las Vegas (KLAS) now - is that Bri already?

Rod

Also returns from the ground at Houston George Bush KIAH. Nice also.
Rod

Malaysia and Thailand showing up well this evening, also the Canaries showing returns.
Alan
-
Ground returns coming from San Antonio Int. KSAT. Is there an Embraer facility there? Seem to be a few Phenoms on test flights round there at the moment.
Rod
-
It seems a long time since we had ground returns from Athens LGAV, but they're back again this morning.
Rod
-
Rod
Saw a post that you picked me up in JED/OEJN on 12th Oct and picked up a load of Haj flights but do have a problem of hardware freezing when on network which I cannot seem to overcome (windows 7 issue?)!
Will be in MOW area next week but believe there is now a resident there with one 24/7.
X
-
It's good to have globetrotting RB users :-)
Yes, we have Netcop (Nick) in Moscow with great area coverage, but the more the merrier, especially if you can get airport ground coverage.
As to Win7, I'm running it (64-bit) with no problems at all, so I'm afraid I have no troubleshooting experience to share with you. Good luck!
Rod
-
And tonight, returns from the Bahamas as well as from the Miami area - nice.
Rod
That was me, just north of Fort Lauderdale, home now though :-(
Also sharing data from Key West a few days earlier but not much traffic.
-
Thanks, Really - always good to see new bits of sky, if only for a few hours!
Rod
-
Currently seeing traffic in the Indianapolis area. New one for me.

Someone has an RB on at Tel-Aviv just now. Good reports being seen.

Returns coming in from the coast of Vietnam - perhaps a box at Dong Tac - VVTH
Rod
-
Strong returns from Central Iraq, overlapping with the more usual Kuwait coverage.

Ground return coming in from Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport and V C Bird, Antigua
Alan

I see from the Network locations map that there appears to be a box on Easter Island at the moment - has anyone noticed any returns from there (SCIP)?
Rod
-
Never spotted anything from Easter Island - would have been nice!
I'm now seeing returns from a new area of Australia - possibly centred inland in Queensland - around Emerald - YEML.
Australian returns are somewhat patchy these days. I hope this one stays around.
Rod
-
As a bit of fun, I created a more accurate network locations map, using the geodata.
http://batchgeo.com/map/a9ba591cd3e3f0fc0d5f0f9c56fc53b3
Maybe if we have another maximum effort network day, I can do this map again. Even so, some unusual island locations showing up.
-
Thanks for that, Tarbat
There are good ground returns coming from Agadir GMAD, Morocco at the moment.
Rod

Great ground returns from Dubai OMDB at the moment.
And Baghdad is still online :-)
Rod

Good ground returns from Oslo Gardermoen ENGM at the moment. But current ENGM outline is very basic.
Hi Rod, any chance to update?
Nick
-
It's on my to-do list, but the GE image is so old (2003) that I've been holding on for something more recent.
Surely we can't have long to wait?
Rod

Sure, we can, Rod. I absolutely agree that priority here is quality, not speed :-)
Nick

Returns coming in from El Fasher, Sudan - HSFS
Rod

Izmir, Turkey - LTBJ is giving great returns at the moment.
Rod

Its really disappointing to see that Auckland and most of Spain are showing no movements for the last couple of days.
Alan
-
Alan,
Possible cause for Spain is that this is a major holiday weekend. Tomorrow is Father's Day which is also a National holiday here. Perhaps some of the usual network contributors are away.
Ian

I hope so Ian, Madrid is a big loss
Alan

No sooner do I mention Auckland hasnt been on and its back up, nice to see.
Alan

Good to see Manila back on
Alan

Never seen returns from Davis-Monthan before.
This looks like the end of an old friend - just watching G-MAJS doing possibly its last flight and taxying to the southern scrapping area :-(
EDIT - wrong - she was just displaced a bit, and has now taken off :-))
Wonder what she was doing there, though.

Rod

Great coverage of the Black Sea today.
Rod
-
Hi Rod, what font are you using?
-
Hi Jon
Verdana 10
Rod
-
These returns from the Black Sea are a little bit of a mystery.
The RadarBox map shows a pin right in the middle of the sea, but my best match with radar rings giives a box with very good range to the north, and nothing to the south, on the north coast of Turkey.
Am I right?
Rod
-
For the first time, I've seen a return from the ground at Macau.
Rod

Returns coming in from the wesyt of Kazakhstan, one of the new boxes?

to tarbat: On your card my radar is represented correctly, and according to the reference AirNav the radar is in the next Yaroslavl region that isn't correct. In Yaroslavl there is no radar.
Probably AirNav were mistaken and specified my radar aside? I ask to correct and grade in the city of Ivanovo.

Airnav's map normally uses the location of your IP address, whch can be many hundreds of miles away. My map uses the actual location (CITY/COUNTRY) that you enter into the station location details in Preferences.

Now it is clear

In other words, take a pin and stick in a map blindfolded! About as accurate and useful as this map is!

Nice to have ground returns from Beijing.
In fact, nice to have any returns from China - been bery quiet recently, Hong Kong excepted.
Rod
-
Earlier on, there was 1800+ showing on the network - the highest I've ever noticed - must be the extra boxes coming on line. Rock on ANRB!
-
A few minutes ago, 1806 on Network and 44 of my own. Currently 1811 and 49.
-
Our free boxes campaign continues and at this time we will provide them to users with external antennas only.
We intend to increase the coverage of the network in the next weeks. There are still 15 new boxes to be installed in new locations.
-
It would be really nice to have ground returns from more busy airports like New York, SFO, etc, and surely there must be someone in Iceland who wants a free RadarBox!
Not forgetting Athens and Rome airport movements, too.
Rod

currently getting returns from Lagos - only seen these once before :)

New box now active at Campo Grande, Brazil - SBCG with ground returns

Cape Verde Islands are now online. In 10 days we will have an external antenna at this location.
This is a crucial point in international air traffic between Europe<->South America and Africa<->North America.

Returns coming from the King Khalid International (OERK) area in Saudi at the moment.

I originally intended to set up my radarbox permanently in Hanoi...but due to various factors (the need for a monster mast, highrise buildings nearby, building regulations, radio interference, the incredible cost of shipping a proper antenna to Vietnam and the hassle of dealing with customs etc) I put the project on ice.
Now I just opened an office in Saigon (or Ho Chi Minh City for those who still like the idea of naming cities after people), perfectly located 3nm from VVTS.
The standard glideslope for rw 07L passes right next to my office window - at around 1000ft altitude on approach the aircraft are 0.4 nm away from my antenna, meaning that even with the standard antenna inside my window sill I already now get good returns from that direction :)
I've just signed a long-term lease for the office here, and in due course I'll set up a proper antenna mast on the rooftop which should clear most obstructions and give near 360 deg coverage, and invest in a slightly higher-gain, probably sealed (fiberglass) "permanent outdoor" type antenna.
I'm running airnav on my laptop for now (and need to take it with me sometimes), but as soon as I get a permanent antenna/mast, I'll use a dedicated box so that it will be online 24/7.
-
Looking forwrds to seeing your returns typist
Alan
-
the returns should be there already, just with a limited radius (max 50nm in "lucky" directions for FL 30-40, but good coverage of final approach/landing on RW07 already), but as soon as I get a mast and a proper antenna setup I should get pretty much 360 degrees visibility. I wanted to do this 2 years ago in HN already, but it really isn't worth it when the location is sub-optimal, but now I found a perfect spot methinks :)
-
Just noted CPA764 on departure from VVTS
Alan

We will soon start having returns from Kinshasa, RDC with an extrenal antenna / good equipment. It will be interesting to have this stationin Central Africa monitoring some SA-EUR flights.

thanks for the feedback, Alan, glad to see it works

We are adding a lot of new sharing locations during the following weeks as more users join our non-RadarBox receivers sharing program.
Have a look at:
http://www.radarbox24.com/#addcoverage
If you know of non-RadarBox users wanting to share data with us just tell them to fill the application form on the above page.
