Title: Strong winds can it affect ranges
Post by: acars45 on November 19, 2015, 06:30:11 AM
Morning I have a outdoor antenna mounted high getting about 230-235 range
With the strong winds recently can that affect ranges ?
Also with the nights drawing in does ranges get lower
Any advice would be fab

I have noticed no differecet with high winds on range.   When I had my antenna up 10 stories on the apartment building roof I was living it, there was no difference.   It got quite windy up there and it never really made a difference.

Jason

The following can cause reception-range decrease under heavy weather conditions:

- Strom can cause vibration of the antenna. Based on the design and cable-connection of the antenna this could reduce the gain and/or efficiency of the antenna. Result temporary range decrease.

- Day-Night temperature changes (warm to cold): If the connector isn't 100% water sealed a temperature decrease can cause partial and temporary mist over in the connector. Result: attenuation increases, weaker signals from edge of range get lost in the noise, range reduces.
