I logged this one in my area of the world around 2300z today.  It was in southeast Virginia heading southwest.  I usually log it several times per month.

Checking my log from yesterday

3F8516 1022  A310 Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 (9-13)

airfframes says "Theodor Heuss" German Government (Bundesregierung) Airbus A310 modified VIP version, named 'Theodor Heuss'

so why is the database confused ?

I guess that this is the old 1022 or 10+22 registration issue reported many times?

See www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=3129.msg29305#msg29305 for a detailed discussion of this ongoing issue.  There's a fix on the horizon, but it looks like it will have to wait until V3 has settled down.

Almost certainly this is what you were picking up:

As a new (or even an experienced) user, you're not to be blamed for being confused by the conflicting descriptions (the reasons for which are well documented in previous posts).

According to Airframes 3FAA54 relates to a VFW-Fokker CH53G (S-65) with a c/n of V65-082 and belonging to the German Army with a registration of 84+84.

The clue is also in the callsign used on this aircraft - GAMM84
