just had my first alert ....

sqawking 7700
reg 92-0548
alt 21000

has anyone more info ?

He called 'RCH 2548 emergency' on initial contact with London Mil East. He's descending towards EGUN now. FL 052.

tried to google the 'RCH 2548 emergency'

but came up with nothing that fitted ...can you explain ?

RCH 2548 is the call sign derived (in this instance) from the serial no 0f 92-0548, and he was calling an emergency, hence the 7700 sqawk.

Hi all,apparently there were two emergency problems at Manchester on Wed evening,16/12.BMA 1QA sqawking 7700 just after take off,but could not return to MAN because of Flybe`s DH8 G-JECZ declaring an engine fire alert on runway 05L requiring evacuation of its passengers on the runway.So the BMA had to go to Liverpool.Bit of a late post but had no access to internet while at work earlier.

Watching AAL235 squawking 7700 showing LIRF-KJFK limping along at FL180 - it's bypassed Paris and is heading across the English Channel, presumably bound for Heathrow.

As it's cruising so low, I guess it's a tech problem rather than medical.

Seems odd to be FL180 though, if it were pressurisation you would expect below FL100 to prevent the crew needing to be on oxygen. Be interested to know what happened if anyone finds out.
