Title: Aircraft not being tracked
Post by: Mark07 on August 07, 2009, 01:30:26 PM
Hi Guy's,
Quick question.  I always sort my flights by distance.  Can you tell me if flights that aren't being tracked (ie no blue globe) sort this way also or are they just randomly listed?

Thanks,
Mark

Since flights that do not transmit their position, you cannot possibly know how far away they are and hence it would not be possible to sort them based on their distance from you.

Thanks just wondering as there is a local flight that passes over my house every evening and it always shows top of the list (of untracked flights) as it goes over.  In fact when it leaves Dublin it may be at the bottom and as it gets closer it works it's way to the top.

Maybe due to some other feature of the flight, not sure what.

I suppose it might be down to you receiving more transmissions as it gets closer to you and the list sorts itself on that basis if the main sorting criteria can't be applied?

One for Airnav I think.

It could be as Fenris suggests. Its not something we meant to do :)
