Hi All,
Just some fun.
I was interested to know how many users out there are Leftee's (i.e. have their radar screen on the left hand side of the ANRB application) and how many users out there are Rightee's (i.e. have their radar screen on the Right hand side of the ANRB application).
I am a Leftee. I have tried being a Rightee but that orientation does not work for me.
Cheers,
-
You poor thing, that's so sad, but I'm sure you've learned to live with your problem! most of us 'normal users' of course, are 'righties' - I'm sure given time, Airnav systems may pamper to your under-represented 'lefties' minority group and give you a quiet little corner of the forum to go off to on your own!
-
I have my list on the left and the map on the right - but them I'm left handed, wonder if that makes a difference :-)
I've also noticed a much higher than average number of Air Traffic Controllers are left-handed too. Always wanted to do a proper survey, but never got around to it!
-
I usually run with the map minimised to make more room for the columns in the Aircraft List.
I guess that makes me a Noee or a Neitheree :-)
-
Hey Flanker,
Great post and a good laugh. But interesting to note how people orientate their application.
Allocator,
Being a Leftee I am also right handed so would be interested to see if other people are this way "orientated".
DaveReid,
I like your idea. But then that leaves you stuck in the middle with no real group to belong too. Sitting on the fence then but again maybe there is this small group of Noee or Neitheree's that will come to the fore and promote their stance on things?!?!?!?!
Cheers,
-
Seriously, I've not actually tried it on the left, must give that a go! - Oh no, did I just really say that?
-
I`m leftee and righthanded, works for me

On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays I have the list on the left, map on the right. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays I have the list on the right, and map on the left.
Oddly enough I am ambidextrous - possibly coincidence ?

I suppose things will all change again once AN gets the map undock issue done. Then it will be are you a Dual Screen Leftee Mapper or a Dual Screen Rightee Mapper?

RB List on left Right Handed
SBS map on left list on right ;-)
-
List left -map right

I'm cross-eyed and ambidextrous - I've no idea where mine is :o)
-
List left, 3D window right - both on RH 22" monitor.
Planeplotter running 2D map on (left hand) laptop screen.
Works for me - but may try using ANRB split view option - swapping list to the right and having both 2D and 3D maps to the left - then dragging 2D view onto LH laptop.
Will give this idea a try later
-
Map on the left-list on the right and I'm right handed. Could never get used to it the other way round for some reason which escapes me. But it'so long since i've seen clear skies, I had to look to confirm that.

Currently list right map left. I do change it around though quite regularly when bored, just like today because of the cloud cover.

If you are right eye dominent then you always look at the rightside of something first i.e. a newspaper. If the map is of more interest to you than the table then the map should be positioned on the right.

I am a Rightee and I am Right-handed, but I would give my right arm to be ambidextrous :-)

Just had to reply, great idea and super posts!
Map on the left and list on the right (righthanded).
Noticed in Dubai at the air show when I was on the roof of the Sheraton with 4 other RB users and seeing some screens opposite to mine. Never really thought about it but wondered why they were "backwards" LOL
Thanks,
-
I have the list on the left and the map on the right but also left handed. :)

Hi All,
I tried changing the orientation to the map on the right and the list on the left. Just doesn't work for me.
My eyes always gravitate to the left hand side of the screen and find it easier to look at the map on that side first before then looking at the list on the right hand side.
-
Jetcos,
I was one of the 4RB users in DXB and mine is normal to me - list on left / map on right (right handed as well)
-
I thought I would resurrect this post again seeing that it has been over 18 months since the original post in February 2010 and was wondering if:
(1) anyone previously was a Leftee or a Rightee and they have changed their "orientation"?
(2) any newbees to RB over the past while can contribute to the ever growing statistics of Leftee or Rightee dominance in our community?
Me, I'm still a steadfast Leftee and more so since I recently purchased a 22 inch monitor.
Cheers,
-
Map left
I am right handed

Hi
Same as Chris map on left hand side and right handed.

3d map on the left (showing just registration & alt), list on the right & in altitude order (highest to lowest) .... right handed
-
Excellent post guys,
I'm right handed so have my map on the left and the interface on the right BUT when using two screens I have the interface on the main screen (left) and the map on the right screen.
When it's on the left (it looks bigger too!) the map guys...the map lol.
-
I tried being a Rightee for the weekend but just ended up with boggle eyes. I am a Leftee through and through :-).
-
I'm with Allocator ,a fellow left hander! list on the left , map on the right ,tried the other way and failed miserably !!
-
list on left map on right to match my right right handedness ;-)

So there we have it. RadarBox has proven to be an invaluable source of scientific information relating directly to human evolution and hand eye coordination. Seems like an even split of 50:50 :-)).
