Rod,

I know the answer, having served with the UN for two and a half years. Generally, all UN aircraft belong to individual member countries and are usually painted white overall with UN in large letters in blue or white. Some aircraft are in camouflage with UN painted in white.  All the bizjets that I have seen used by UN officials were leased.

Hi there,
Just caught this A/C over N.E France:
                                     Taiwan Air Force
                                      Reg 1485
                                      Flt CTM 0001
                                      Type AIDCF-1A Ching Ho

Any ideas as i`ve looked on airframes.org but no joy.The picture downloaded was a mil fighter.

P.S. It was decending when i caught it.

                                        Regards Terry.

This is the first time I've seen a Boeing 777 Freighter on the network:

EDIT - I've been investigating, and I don't think that the code B77F (presumably from GAS) is valid - I think it should just be a B772.

EDIT AGAIN - GAS has it as a B772 - I wonder where "B77F" came from.

Rod
Rod,
This aircraft has just passed over Central Scotland today as AF6400 en route to Chicago from Paris. The registration shown was F-GUOC as you have quoted. According to Airlines 2008, Air France have 3 aircraft registered F-GUOA/B/C and the aircraft type is given as Boeing 777-F28 ! hence the reason they are showing as B77F.

Cheers,

Ian

F-GUOC is indeed a freighter.  In fact she is Boeing's first 777 freighter.  She was handed over to Air France on 19th Feb and left Paine Field for Paris on 20th Feb as AFR380V, arriving about 9:30 on the 21st

It's just that I like to make sure that the short names are valid ICAO codes - if you check here: www.icao.int/anb/ais/8643/index.cfm there's no such code as B77F - GAS and Airframes.org list it as a B772, so that's what I've changed it to.

The 777 Freighter is based on the 777-200LR and as such shares the same ICAO code B77L (ICAO doesn't normally allocate specific codes to freighter variants of Boeing types).

Terry,

Congratulations, that is indeed a rare bird you got there. It's an indigenous fighter built when ROC was refused F-16s by the US govt. They have around 100 of the A model and 28 of the B model. The name is actually Ching-Kuo in memory of the late President Chiang Ching-Kuo.

Terry

1485 is an A319 of the French Air Force.  CTM is the ICAO code for the French Air Force.

It shares a numbers only registration with the Ching-Kuo. Hence airliners net dragged through the photo details for that.  You could also have ended up with details for a retired US Coast Guard HH-3 which also shares this registration.

This is a common problem with airforces that use number only registrations like France and Ireland and Norway, where the number used in the registration is shared with the registrations of more exotic military birds from other air forces.  Other examples I have seen are an Irish Air Corps CN235 coming up as an East German Air Force Mig 23.

If you change the entry on your database to read F-RBFA instead of 1485, then airliners net will upload the correct photo/details next time you log it.

AirNav Support.  Is it possible to start a sticky covering how the airliners net search process deals with mil aircraft with shared number registrations and the fact that airliners net photo search also takes the German Mil Iron cross as a 'plus' in search terms.  This seems to be a common problem for new users.

Tarbat,

Both miscoded boxes. Aircraft landed at Mildenhall yesterday and visually identified.
