Title: New install...Vista, problems never seen before
Post by: Jetcos on February 24, 2009, 10:55:48 PM
Looking for a little help. Bought a new computer Vista / Dual Core 1.87 G 3.0 G ram etc

Installed RB in it's own folder not the program files. Haven't seen many reg's or routes showing up. (very few anyways) Worked great in my old laptop with XP. Haven't touched the filters and wondering if I missed something since I first installed RB over a year ago.

Any help or ideas appreciated, Thanks

Do you have a firewall running and did you block RadarBox, if so that will mean it can't connect and get new routes and aircraft details.

Can I get a tuturial on how to fix that?  Not sure I remember how to allow RB to work with the Firewall. Did a quick search. Also running Norton (sorry forgot about that) if that may be an issue.

Thanks for the quick reply Support!

Hi Jetcos, I got a laptop "Toshiba" and I had no problems. Bit slow at first but talking to Tarbat soon got that sorted. Good luck.

Thanks Colin.

I have installed RB on a home computer, laptop and now my new laptop. Not sure what the issue is but I see no Aircraft,Routes,Reg,Flight ID and Airline. Did a Full install and only have the Firewall and Norton to sort out right now. Then wondering where all the data is? Can't be a firewall issue as I have run the old laptop from the car with no internet before and always had the above info. Looking for some ideas on where is the info?  re-install it again? Missing files?  Something please...

Regards,

Steve

Possibly the Norton firewall is stopping connection.  If you've got the Vista firewall installed and running, then you can probably turn OFF the Norton personal firewall in the Norton Protection Centre.

It's what I've done, I find the Vista firewall a lot easier to configure that the Norton Personal Firewall.

Thanks, the Vista one is off and Norton is on. I thought I "allowed" RB to work with Norton. Will check it again.

May re-install again just to make sure it's all there. The issue seems to be a lack of info onthe screen. Shouldn't be effected by internet. The populate feature I think would be affected as it isn't working at all.

The joys of a new computer install, you get used to the old one and then you "switch" up to a new one. (sounds like wives LOL).

I'll keep plugging away till I get it going.

Thanks again

ok, re-installed the RB program, back to normal.

Set the Norton and will try it. Seems to Populate so I think I am off to a good start with this new laptop.

Thanks to Support and fellow RBer's for their assistance.
